Apparently the explanation for this unusual venue REALLY IS (I shit you not):

    1. They have briefings like this quite often. They've had them about Syria, for example. But they normally happen in a special secure (i.e., checked for bugs) area in the senate. BUT:
    2. Trump asked for it to happen at the White House instead, because he wanted a photo op because it's nearly his 100th day.

What would happen with the 25 million starving refugees that have been brainwashed to hate us for 70 years after we beat the government in the event of a war? Make the South take care of them?

Have you seen our new planes? They are covered in cameras linked to the pilots helmet. He can look 360degrees around himself and the helmet sees right through everything. He can even see through his own body. It's fucking incredible. All while remaining 100% stealth and being able to hover like a fucking ufo.

Very true. Especially with drones; who can do the work without putting any American lives in danger. If we go to war with NK, drones are going to play a major part in taking out heavily defended and/or dangerous positions.

The Soviets had thousands of nukes aimed at us and deterrence (MAD) is what worked. War with North Korea would condemn millions of South Koreans to death.

Something bad is very likely to happen to North Korea simultaneously with, or immediately before, the Senate briefing tomorrow.

They've shown they can't be trusted to keep a secret, even when American lives are at stake, so they'll hear about it when we do.

The Peace Dam (평화의 댐) is a South Korean dam on the Bukhan River. It was built to stave off possible catastrophic flooding should the upstream Imnam Dam in North Korea collapse, either intentionally or by accident. The dam was completed in 2005.[1] As it stands, the dam has no reservoir, and is merely preventive.[2] Daelim industrial Co,.Ltd, leading contractor for the Peace Dam construction project, began the construction in 2012 and will end the project in 2014. And the design company for the project is Isan. [3]
Construction began in 1987, in reaction to a perceived threat following the construction of the Imnam Dam by North Korea. The Bukhan River is a
tributary of the Han River, and catastrophic scenarios foresaw a flood engulfing the South Korean capital of Seoul in case of an attack by North Korea. Construction was halted before completion, among allegations that the threat had been grossly exaggerated. Construction resumed after satellite photographs in 2002 revealed the existence of cracks in the Imnam Dam, triggering fears that it could collapse in case of heavy rains.[4]
In September 2005, North Korea released massive quantities of water without warning, causing serious flooding just south of the border.[1]
The Peace Dam is 601 meters wide, 125 meters tall, and capable of holding 2.61 billion tons of water. Its construction cost $429 million.[2]

Good but you left out that N Korea aided Syria in their acquisition of chemical weapons.

Sounds like the THAAD system has been finally put in place a day after N Koreas show of force. If this isn't a clear sign that we are ready to make a pre-emptive strike on the Northern peninsula then nothing can happen to cause you to expect it before the first impact.

Increasing sanctions is not going to do a damn thing other than cause N Koreans to die of starvation. You can cut their budget from 100 million to 10 million, they will always reallocate their available funds to their nuclear program. It is inevitable that one day they will accomplish their goal, be it next year, or in 50 years, unless the government is forced to change.

Now there will be a complaint that Congressmen did not get the invite.

    >"The USA was the first to break the terms of the armistice 3 years after signing it when it placed nukes in SK". So who is the real aggressor? Looks obvious! Did we not supplement the Pakistanis' with Nukes in the first place?

If Trump wants to go to war, it looks like he's enlisting the Senate's support.

No it doesn't. It sounds like you won't find 1/100 senators who can make sense of what today actually was.

    http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/whi...e-house-sobering-north-korea-briefing-n751556

It was a session that Sen. Chris Coons, D-Delaware, called "sobering."

But while senators who spoke with NBC News stressed the seriousness of the threat of an increasingly aggressive North Korea poses, few specifics of the administration's next steps were made publicly available after the meeting.

    ...

"It appears that President Trump's discussions with President Xi at Mar-a-Lago had some beneficial impact. Time will tell."

Other senators separately echoed the sentiment.

    ...

Asked about why senators converged at the White House for the briefing, Coons said the seriousness of the threat "requires us to act in a non-partisan way."

"I think it makes the American people safer if the world sees our government acting in a concerted, serious and thoughtful manner rather than taking partisan shots about did we meet in the Senate did we meet in the White House."

Am I the only one who wouldn't be surprised if this is all a front by China? That ultimately they still support the regime but want the world to believe they don't?

How easy would it be for China to help develop N Koreas nuclear program in the dark? Trains frequently go back and forth between the two countries. Also you have the fact that basically everything that happens in N Korea happens in the dark.

Why do so many people claim that China wants denuclearization of N Korea? If they helped grow N Koreas nuclear program as an ally then they would have a similar situation with N Korea what we have with S Korea, and that very much benefits China.

Plus the whole situation with the coal sanctions seems fairly flimsy.

    http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news...-coal-ships-to-unload--but-not-import-8798408

All signs point towards N Korea forcing trumps hand. I don't think he can accomplish what he hopes to with the China sanctions, and not only will he take matters into his own hands, he will probably become spiteful and mess up our trade situation with China in the process, which could have a temporarily disastrous affect on our economy. In the long run I think we would be better off relying less on Chinese manufacturing.
