If Neil trades a pick for Carmelo I will be pissed. He'd need to get fired for that shit.

I think it could be an absolutely genius move for this team. It buys us talent immediately unloads Leonard who won't contribute, gives us a player that will contribute for more than and pick in this draft and at worst helps our luxury cap after this season. #15 is maybe the wrong pick though #20 can con into play.

if you can do this deal with the 15th pick....you can most likely pacake 20 and 26 and maybe a player to move up from 20....and dump some cap. harkless comes to mind in this situation

    I would love this deal

Dame/CJ/Melo/Vonleh/Nurkic is a great team to face Warriors.

A great team if you want to watch Steph, Klay, and KD combine for 150 points a game.

Melo will make ~$26.24M, and Leonard makes~ $9.9M.

Blazers would need to come up with ~$16.34M in outgoing salaries to match.

Turner or Crabbe would make the salaries match. Some combination of players works, too. Harkless and Aminu works. Harkless and Davis is close, if not good enough.

I would assume NO isn't going to somehow use Ezeli's non-guaranteed deal in this kind of trade - we need the cap relief to avoid the tax if this trade scenario happens.

The Knicks have a lot of cap space available, though they have to deal with DRose and his massive cap hold. In theory, we could trade $36M (or whatever) for the $26M incoming Melo contract.

Since we'd be sending the Knicks a 4th C, maybe we could get them to send us O'Quinn.

I'm with Schilly - that this could be a good deal. It gets a little tough if we're going to be sending out a ~30MPG rotation player, or two, on top of Leonard. I would wait and see before making any judgment other than Melo can still play. I wouldn't judge him by how the Knicks fared with him - I went to a Knicks game at the Garden 2 years ago (Melo didn't play) and that team started and played several actual D-Leaguers.

On the other hand, I don't know that Melo at SF alongside Dame, CJ, and Nurk, is going to make us a team that can compete with the Warriors any better than the Cavs did. For this reason, I'd much rather see us go after a guy who's under the radar but with some upside. Someone like Otto Porter.

Hell, I'd watch that team. Bring it on. Melo is a good soldier on Team USA and knows this is his last shot.

    Not going to happen, though.

Melo has to be smallball PF. Play Aminu for at least some semblance of D.

Only thing I don't like is that it means we wouldn't be getting Ferguson.

Melo would be a great fit here, he could revitalize his career as a Blazer.

I can't believe the consensus is Melo would be a good fit here lol. Forgot about defense have we?

Melo isn't gonna stop is from getting swept by GSW.

Melo would leave after a year, and the consensus would be that we should've never traded a pick in a great draft for him.

Even if we gave up 120 points we would score 125. Sounds like today's league to me...

Of course there would be some nights where we hold teams to <100.

Don't judge Melo based off his last few seasons in NY. The Knicks are a mess.

    Ok, slight modification:

Instead of Leonard, FEEC, Davis and the 15th pick, we ship them Leonard, Mo, Davis and the 20th pick for Melo and KOQ.

Then, we send the 15th, 26th, our 2019 1st round pick and Crabbe to IND for Paul George.

We now have our Big 5 (take THAT GSW), one of whom can actually play defense:

    Dame
    C.J.
    PG13
    Melo
    Nurk

We beat both GSW and CLE for the title, Melo and PG13 are both so frickin' happy they both agree to resign here for a discount, we end up being THE destination for all the ring chasing vets who will sign with us for the vet min and we go on to win three more titles.

Ok, time to wake up now...

Carmelo's a ball stopper who can't defend and doesn't shoot efficiently and is on the downside of his career.

That all magically goes away once he gets out of New York?

i second this.....motivation is key for a lot of players. Melo has the tools to be a good defensive player. think about if he went to cleveland..i bet melo would be a great defensive player.
People use to say durant didnt play D....

Not necessarily, if he goes to somewhere like Brooklyn he still has to try and be the hero and will eventually realize he can't do it by himself. But if he goes somewhere like Portland I think he's shown he is more than capable of being a fantastic team player based off his time with team USA.
