That's fair. I trust in my ability to evaluate talent but I'd be ok with being wrong, especially if he's drafted by the Blazers.

I wanted the Blazers to draft D. Green GSN and was upset we didn't go for him. He ended up going second round. I'm not saying Bell will be that good but I have a similar feeling after watching him.

So all these biased Duck fans are trying to tell JDC he's wrong when he's watched multiple games just paying attention to Bell?

Yeah, I wonder who has the best case...

    Bell isn't going top 20. There's a 90% chance he's there at 26.

Taking him at 15 or 20 would be absolutely retarded.

Yeah, he's like Green except he's weaker, smaller, and can't shoot, dribble, or pass...

I have seen almost every Oregon game Bell has played in and I am not so sure I agree with this assessment of him. First of all he is not a good passer unless he is standing in the post and hitting a cutter. But ask him to pass while dribbling........bad things happen. Worse than Aminu.

On the flip side he can finish pretty well without dunking. (Either hand) And he also has a decent mid range shot.

He is not a back up 5. He is a 4 all the way in the NBA. I would take him at 26 but not 20.

I have watched almost every game Bell played for the Ducks not just 10 games. We will see where Bell goes soon and I hope we can get him at 26 if we keep the pick but I doubt it IMO. Bell isn't smaller then Green Check the pre-draft measurements. I'm not saying Bell is going to as good as Green just saying I was upset we didn't go for Green when he went 2nd round. I will have the small feeling if we pass on Bell this year. I can see by your posts you don't like Bell or the Ducks and I'm not going to discuss anything else on these forums. This is the reason I stopped posting on these forums. Goodnight and good luck!

I can't wait for half this board to meltdown if/when we pass on bell three times.

Remember when the beatwriters talked about these workouts? Or about who they really like?

It really takes the fun out of draft week.

    I disagree with him too.

But it's just friendly banter. :blahblah::crystalball:

He passed well in situations that are typical for a big (short rolls, w/ b2b) in the games that I watched but it's true that he's not immune to making bad turnovers on the move. And a part of that is his inability to capitalize/recognize finishing opportunities due to size/extension/creativity around the rim--He often quickly opts to pass or gets stuck w/ a killed dribble.

He does show some good body control and ball control with either hand on the break and in space, but struggled in the games I saw in traffic/half court/non-dunk situations vs nba-like size and athleticism.

And yeah, he might be able to get away with playing the 4 in certain lineups, but that doesn't optimize his skills on either end in the modern NBA imo.

Yeah but don't you think that in the modern NBA..... he is better suited to play PF .....as opposed to the old era? He can at least cover the perimeter...... for a PF.

He can't shoot. That is pretty damning for him at the moment, ESPECIALLY for Stotts's offense. (He would never play the 4 for us)

I agree he is not a great fit for Stott's offense. But he can shoot well enough to keep the defense honest. He just didn't have to at Oregon.

Why not? Vonleh isn't much of a shooter either (or at least barely gets asked to shoot) yet he still looked good next to Nurkic.

I don't think Vonleh looked great next to Nurk, he just looked better than what he was before. It was clear the coaching staff was trying to get him to shoot jumpshots. Also don't think they would hesitate to replace him with someone that fit better.

Bell has the best motor in the draft. He can guard multiple positions. There are clips of him draining 3s in workouts. You know he'll be your best defender as soon as the pick is announced. No other player where we are picking can have that impact on our team.

Nurkic is developing his jumper. It was already decent in the mid-range, and will probably extend over the summer. If Nurkic's jumper is reliable, we don't need a shooter at the 4.
