This two-way player thing seems really inefficient without your own DLeague team close by. And with our affiliate being far away in Boise, I don't see much use. Both for the player or the team.

When I saw this news on Instagram last night I had to google what a "two way deal" was.

Portland is no longer affiliated with Boise. Haven't been for quite a while. Infact, there isn't even a team in Boise anymore. The Jazz bought them & moved them to Provo.

Really? Who is now our DLeague affiliate? Seems like last year, Quarterman and Layman took turns playing for the Long Island Nets and Windy City Bulls.

Paul Allen is trying to corner the market. He currently controls half of the league's C.J.'s. If he can manage to land one of Miles or Watson, he will have a clear majority. Get them both, and he will have a monopoly.

BTW, now that C.J. Miles plays for Toronto, I think we should start calling him C.J. Kilometers.

You wanted veterans. This guy's nearly 27. You should be overjoyed.

He's played for doc rivers and the Orlando magic, hardly hotbeds for player development. So despite being 26-27, there's still an upside there.

I like that Blazers use the 2 way contract to sign him still leaving a space open. Actually I guess we have 2 with Ezeli being gone.

We're currently at 16 total contracts - 15 "regular" contracts and one 2-way contract. That means we currently only have one 2-way contract available, but that could easily change. We could free up two more roster spots by not picking up Connaughton's non-guaranteed contract and using the stretch provision on Andrew Nicholson. We still have our non-tax payer MLE and the $12 million TPE from the Crabbe trade. We also have a couple small TPEs from the Plumlee and Quarterman trades, but I doubt if they get used for anything.

So, Neil still has quite a bit of flexibility to add one or two more players, if the right situation comes along.

And averaged 1ppg. Who did he play for last season? I bet the majority of the people had to look that up.

It's not a pressing matter. We have until August 31 to waive him and use the stretch provision to spread out his remaining salary over the next five seasons.

Who knows, maybe he plays his way onto the team, or maybe his current contract can be used for salary matching purposes in a potential trade. Technically, his salary can't be aggregated with another outgoing player in a single trade until two months after the Crabbe trade, but if the salaries work, it could be handled as two separate transactions.

Odds are, he'll be waived and stretched by the 31st, but no need to do it any sooner than necessary.

What did you expect on a two-way contract, an all star? Get a clue.
