He hurt his shoulder during the 15-16 season. He could have had surgery in the offseason, or just rehab. So the blazers had him try to put on weight to play center. While also rehabbing? Blazers staff makes injured big man gain weight and he ends up getting hurt even worse... Blazers trying to make a PF play center... It's almost like these things have happened before. I don't feel like posting the stats, but if you look, I think you can see that last year was probably an anomaly. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/davised01.html
nah....he didn't suck the year before and he came into camp last season hobbled....it got worse...he shut it down..you may as well just condense it to....you don't like Ed Davis.....he's a role player sure. A good one when healthy from my view.
Actually, the year before last Ed was my favorite player. He brought consistent effort and energy every night. I appreciated and respected that. Last year, to me, he was the biggest disappointment on the team. The effort just wasn't there and his body language was horrible. It was like he no longer wanted to be here. Other role players (Crabbe and Turner) got HUGE contracts and he missed out. Not sure if he resented that, or not, but the effort just wasn't there, for whatever reason. There was no mention of any injury until much later in the season. BNM
Photo / Bruce Ely Davis to Undergo Shoulder Surgery Portland center to miss the remainder of the season Posted: Mar 01, 2017 Facebook Google Plus Twitter Portland center Ed Davis will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder to repair an injured labrum, it was announced today by Neil Olshey, Trail Blazers president of basketball operations. The procedure is scheduled to be performed next Tuesday by Dr. Neal ElAttrache at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. A specific prognosis will be determined for Davis following the procedure, but he is expected to be out for the remainder of the 2016-2017 season. Davis originally injured the shoulder during the 2015-16 season and has progressively worsened. Davis is averaging 4.3 points (52.8% FG), 5.3 rebounds and 17.2 minutes in 46 games (12 starts) this season. Again, no mention of the injury until much later. He supposedly originally injured it sometime during the 2015-16 season but can't remember when or how. It did not impact his play for the remainder of the 2015-16 season or the playoffs and was not bad enough to consider off season surgery last summer. The first sign that he was even favoring the shoulder didn't show up until late January of 2017. BNM
injured the previous season and got progressively worse ...not only that but we started last season with Chief at the 4 and Vonleh...playing Mason and Ed wasn't going to happen much early...Stotts was scrambling to find a center on that early roster full of power forwards...and Meyers. I have no reason to believe Ed was intentionally lazy...from everything Stotts said, Ed is a great, unselfish teammate who plays the right way and I agree....you could tell he wasn't healthy when he got spot minutes, after Nurk, there wasn't much reason to risk further damage....Chief and Meyers were also hobbled....Noah stepped up big time at that point.
mention Ed makes 7 million this season and 6 million next season....those contracts aren't easy to replace
