So, with all of the dire warnings about traffic gridlock, wildfires, burned-out retinas, and solar orgies, isn't it about time to start referring to Monday as Apoc-eclipse Now?

Forecast for apoc-eclipse tomorrow is cloudy here in Chucktown. Please God, don't obscure this once in a lifetime show!

I've read that even the certified shades don't make you immune from eye damage. I have a pair, but now im scared to even use them. I figure I'll start by doing the out-of-the-corner-of-my-eye attempt...

Just wrote a children's story as something special for the solar eclipse for my son, called The Sun Did Not Come Out. Its about a boy playing hide and seek with the sun.

The Sun Did Not Come Out

At dawn, Taran awoke to a bright light, and he looked outside his window to see the sun.

“Would you like to play a game?” asked the sun.

“How about hide and go seek,” replied Taran.

“My favorite,” said the sun. “Now close your eyes and count to ten.”

Taran hid his face in the crevice of his arm, which sat cozily on the window sill and began to count. “1…2…3…4…”

    “No peaking,” said the sun.”

Taran smiled and pushed his face further into the shade of his arm.

“5…6…7…8…9…10. Ready or not here I come,” said Taran loudly, lifting his face and looking to where the sun had been. There was something different than it had been before, and it took a moment for Taran to put his finger on what it was. It was dark again. The bright friendly sun was no longer looking down at him from its place high in the sky. It had gone, and in its place was the moon, which giggled slightly, but otherwise remained a quite spectator.

Taran, discovering he was a bit cold, thought it time to search for the sun, who he knew was a very good hider.. He went outside and looked behind the tree by his window.

“Are you there?” he asked, but when he looked there was nothing there. The sun did not come out.

Next Taran decided to look under a rather large rock. He lifted it, “aha, I’ve found you! He said excitedly, but again there was nothing there. The sun did not come out.

Then Taran decided to look on the other side of the hill past the tree and the rock. “I know you are there behind the hill,” yelled Taran. But, when he got to the top and looked, he saw only the other side. The sun did not come out.

Taran was perplexed. He wondered where the sun could be hiding. “Olly, olly oxen free!” he yelled, cupping his hands to his mouth.

Then a sudden movement in the sky caught his eye, as the sun moved from behind the moon.

“I am here,” said the sun. “I have been here all along.”

“What a perfect hiding place,” said Taran smiling.

“What game shall we play next,” asked the sun.

“How about tag, suggested Taran mischievously, “your it.”

I like it. Good story. It would be better with some sex and a little drug use. But good job nevertheless.

The news definitely exaggerated the bad traffic. Traffic around PDX has been great today.

I think its gonna be from about tomorrow at noon on for 24 hours or so as everyone who flocked in at different times, make a mad exodus all at once.

Do I look like Lewis Carroll to you?

Reread the story man, the moon is obviously high, and Taran is talking to the sun, he must be tripping on something. And I am pretty sure the sun and moon were getting it on.
