No. 15 Boise State holds off rallying Colorado State, 28-23

Jeremy McNichols suggested just the play to spark Boise State's struggling offense, and then the 15th-ranked Broncos just had to hang on from there.

McNichols' play resulted in an 80-yard touchdown run to break open a tight game, and Boise State withstood a late rally by Colorado State in a 28-23 win Saturday night.

Rypien helps No. 14 Boise State hold off BYU, 28-27

When BYU lined up to attempt a game-winning field goal with 16 seconds remaining, Boise State nose tackle David Moa was struggling to get his shoe on along the sideline as head coach Bryan Harsin was pleading for someone to help Moa.

"That might have been the most stressful moment in the whole game," Harsin said. "BYU is lining up for a field goal and I can't get my nose tackle out there."

Moa managed to get his shoe on in time before he blocked the Cougars' 44-yard field goal attempt and help Boise State escape with a 28-27 victory Thursday night in a wild finish.

Wyoming upsets No. 13 Boise State 30-28 on late safety

Wyoming defensive tackle Chase Appleby didn't practice all week because he was recovering from a concussion and was "dog sick" on Thursday. It didn't show two days later.

But Appleby highlighted a resurgent Wyoming program when he sacked Brett Rypien and forced a fumble that bounced out of the back of the end zone for a safety with 1:25 left to give the Cowboys a 30-28 upset victory over No. 13 Boise State on Saturday night.

Rypien leads No. 22 Boise State in 52-16 rout of Hawaii

There were no signs of jet lag for No. 24 Boise State on Saturday.

Behind the play of sophomore quarterback Brett Rypien, the Broncos (9-1, 8-1 Mountain West, No. 22 CFP) scored early and often on their way to a 52-16 rout of host Hawaii.

Jeremy McNichols powers Boise State past UNLV, 42-25

Boise State running back Jeremy McNichols admitted that last season he didn't spend as much time in the film room or with his offensive line. He's changed that this year and it's paying big dividends.

McNichols rushed for 206 yards and a career-high four touchdowns to power No. 20 Boise State past UNLV 42-25 on Friday night.

Lights out! After darkness delay, SDSU edges No. 19 Stanford

No. 19 Stanford was already on its heels against San Diego State when aging San Diego Stadium plunged into darkness.

After the lights flickered back on, the Aztecs scored a signature win to leave their Pac-12 foe in the dark.

Christian Chapman threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to tight end David Wells with 54 seconds left, capping a wild ending sparked by a darkness delay in San Diego State's 20-17 victory Saturday night.

No. 19 SDSU improves to 5-0 with 34-28 win vs NIU

The No. 19 San Diego State Aztecs didn't take too kindly to seeing star running back Rashaad Penny coming off the field in pain after having his right eye gouged by a Northern Illinois player in the second quarter Saturday night.

"It got us fired up," cornerback Kameron Kelly said after the Aztecs got some big plays early and then held off NIU 34-28 to improve to 5-0 for the first time since 1975. Juwan Washington brought back the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and freshman Tariq Thompson had two interceptions -- including an 83-yard TD return.

Penny runs for 170, No. 19 SDSU beats UNLV 41-10

Rashaad Penny isn't from Las Vegas, but he plays with a lot of guys who are. He knew how emotional Saturday's game against UNLV was going to be and was determined to relay that on the field for No. 19 San Diego State.

Donning "Vegas Strong" eye black, Penny ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns to lift the Aztecs over UNLV 41-10 on Saturday night.

Boise State stifles Penny, beats No. 19 San Diego St. 31-14

Boise State stopped Rashaad Penny and ended San Diego State's unbeaten start.

The No. 19 Aztecs (6-1, 2-1 Mountain West) and Penny failed to establish the run or offensive rhythm during a 31-14 loss to the Broncos on Saturday night.

Rypien throws for 300 yards, 3 TDs; Boise St. tops Air Force

Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien spent the past year lamenting his performance against Air Force, one that cost the Broncos a spot in the Mountain West title game.

But after his performance in the Broncos' 44-19 victory over Air Force on Saturday night, he'll spend the final two weeks of the season getting ready for back-to-back games with Fresno State and a chance to win the conference title.

Boise State rallies to beat No. 25 Fresno State 17-14

Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien struggled so much early in the season, he lost playing time to Kansas graduate transfer Montell Cozart. However, the highly-touted signal caller and nephew of Super Bowl winning quarterback Mark Rypien remained focused on the one thing he wanted more than anything -- a championship.

Saturday night, he got what he came for.

Rypien threw for 246 yards and engineered a 90-yard scoring drive late in the fourth quarter to help Boise State upend No. 25 Fresno State 17-14 to win the Mountain West Conference championship.

No. 25 Boise State beats Oregon 38-28 in Las Vegas Bowl

Bryan Harsin didn't have to say anything.

Boise State had committed two turnovers that were returned for touchdowns in the final minute of the first half, turning a 24-0 rout in the making into a competitive 24-14 contest and allowing Oregon back into the game.

Josh Allen, Wyoming routs sloppy Central Michigan

When Wyoming junior quarterback Josh Allenstepped onto the stage to accept his MVP trophy following the Cowboys' 37-14 victory over Central Michigan on Friday in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, it didn't take long for the chant to begin.

Rypien leads No. 22 Boise State's 56-20 rout of Troy

Brett Rypien passed for 305 yards and four touchdowns, and Sean Modster had 167 yards receiving, to lead No. 22 Boise State to a 56-20 opening victory over Troy on Saturday night.

The Broncos raced to a 35-7 halftime lead over a Trojans team coming off an 11-win season, largely with the Rypien-to-Modster connection. Then, Tyler Horton and Boise State's defense mostly took over the scoring for the second half against Troy.
