Who still believes in Layman? He's almost never talked about anymore. I still do, and think his career will go more the Will Barton way rather than the Victor Claver. Maybe it's because he's white, but I don't think people fully appreciate the athlete Jake is. Watch any highlight of him from the Dleague or the summer league. He can beat guys off the dribble with his speed. He can impact the game even if his shot isn't falling. He's not a spot up shooter, don't let that stereotype creep up. Defensively hes got the feet and explosion to guard three, possibly four positions. The biggest question has been his shot, but for me personally it's his confidence. He was never shy to shoot it last year even though his shot was broke all season, but I'm still not sure what he is mentally. This is a big preseason for him. I hope he shows improvement because really he's only a consistent shot away from the rotation imo.

Guard three or four positions? Which positions are those exactly?

You may like his skill set but he marooned on a bench.

There is nothing stopping him from being a part of the rotation. First say to do something is show Stotts in practice. Butg he found no traction with his jump shot during the season.

Well he's better than Connaughton. But only by a little bit.

I like and appreciate some of his skills, but he's very inconsistent. Also, if he's not scoring, he doesn't have a positive impact on the game.

I do. He's got natural skills. Looked a little sloppy in Vegas, but also looked like he was really trying to impress.

Unlike most, I don't take anything away from Vegas except for getting glimpses of a players skillset. Give me the structure of real NBA any day. Everyone is calling their own number in SL.

He plays better defense than most on this team. But yeah, offensively if he's not getting looks, he's kind of floating out there.

For some teams there is little difference between their SG, SF, and PF. So if you can cover one then you can cover them all. Much like Aminu or Harkless.

On a team with a great team defensive strategy he probably could guard three positions. (4 positions is a stretch) This team is just not one of those.......

I love laymen, he has some growing to do. his shooting stroke is clean, he finds the right spots for himself W/O much effort, and does not seem to childish out on the court. give him another year I bet he comes on strong. granted cj was injured, but it took him till his 3rd year to hit his stride. I enjoy Jake's Minutes. interested to see what he does this year.

    Bronze.

Or, for example, the Thunder, for whom there will be very little positional differentiation between Roberson, George, and Melo.

He sits behind a lot of guys with high expectation or high salaries, but I think he has a great combination of defense and shooting, from what I've seen. I hope he does get a shot and makes the most of it. He does have potential to be a real contributor. Maybe even what we all hope Harkless will be too. The problem is that Layman does have Harkless and Aminu ahead of him with very similar builds and better skill sets at this point. In theory Layman could pass them up, but only if he gets minutes to prove himself.

His size and mobility make me hope that he can put it all together.
