Heard Smoltz comments on crowd participation at Yankee Stadium through out the playoffs and how it was like the "old" Yankee stadium. In the late '90's and early oughts you had plenty of Yankee Players who performed and one could cheer for. Jeter, O'Neil, Tino, Posada, Bernie among others. Many were home rown, gave a damn played to win and the people wre vibrant. By the time the "New" Stadium arrived times had changed. We saw "old guard " Yankees replaced by a bunch of prima donnas and mercenaries. Yeah they won in '09 but that team had few I could really cheer for. Pettitte, Matsui, Gardner and Posada top 4. From '10 through 8/16 the Team went right into the whole the '13 Team being the worst. No wonder the people did not cheer there was nothing there to cheer for. I never got jeeped over the Roid or Tex. From 8/16 through now we've witnessed new blood coming in, a mix of vets and home growns and we can cheer for Judge, Sanchez, Montgomery. The cast has changed and so has the attitude of the crowd, people want to see this team succeed .
The future is looking good and as it glows so will the crowds. It will be a long while before this Yankee Stadium starts coming up with ghosts but if the team keeps moving in a positive direction it will happen

Agree completely. A lot have been made about the lack of fish bowl intimacy that the new stadium lacks. But buildings don't make you cheer, your heros on the field do. They are finally fielding a team worthy of fanatical cheering and that transforms the building into a living object.

I hope the Steins and Cashman realize this. Let's also not forget that Girardi is the bridge from the past to the present. His leadership has contributed significantly to the breathe of life into YS2.0

Giradi should get another contract with a fat raise as far as I'm concerned. Back in '08 I thought he was the right man for the job, and I'm still of that opinion today.

I agree, the Yanx weren't even supposed to be in the Post Season...
Joe deserves a new contract, he's fought, bought and paid for one...

A good job by Joe, they'd be fools to let him go in such a season....

I've changed my mind on CC, give him 1 yr 8 Mil...

Interesting Rib. You think the youth and energy of the kids has had an impact on CC? I know with my team at work, they are 25-35 year olds, and as the 50 year old guy their energy is infectious.

Just do what the Japanese do in movie theaters....block cell signal. If it's just a camera than people are less distracted.

...ahhh, using "airplane mode" at the ball park...that would make way too much sense.

If Major League Baseball Parks were Catholic Churches Yankee Stadium would be akin to St Peters in Rome!
