Kizer leads No. 18 Notre Dame to 39-10 win over Nevada

Notre Dame's defense got going after stuffing Nevada on a fourth-and-1 from the 17 on Nevada's first possession. The offense didn't get going until the second quarter.

Nevada (1-1) was no match for the 18th-ranked Fighting Irish once they got both sides going, overpowering the Wolf Pack 39-10 on Saturday. DeShone Kizer threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score, Josh Adamsrushed for 106 yards on 10 carries and Notre Dame's defense rebounded from a disappointing performance a week ago at Texas.

Notre Dame fires defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder after 1-3 start

Fans inside Notre Dame Stadium who were calling for defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder's job on Saturday got their wish one day later, as Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly fired the beleaguered defensive coordinator Sunday and promoted defensive analyst Greg Hudson to the post.

Saying that Hudson and every other staff member was on a public interview for the rest of the season, Kelly has turned to a fresh set of eyes in hopes of fixing a defense that has allowed 149 points through a 1-3 start, the most points the program has ever given up in its first four games.

Parseghian rebuilt Notre Dame football during the 'Era of Ara'

When I called former Notre Dame coach Ara Parseghian at his winter home in Marco Island, Florida, more than five years ago, I told him I was writing a "legacy" article about one of college football's most revered coaches.

Parseghian chuckled, and then said, "You're writing my obituary, aren't you?"

For more than an hour, Parseghian shared intimate details of his life as the son of immigrants, his unlikely journey to becoming one of Notre Dame's most beloved coaches, and his battle with an incurable disease that killed three of his young grandchildren.

Parseghian, 94, died early Wednesday morning at his home in Granger, Indiana, the university announced. He had been battling an infection in his hip. In his final days, his players wrote him letters to tell him what he meant to them.

Wimbush, Adams lead No. 22 Notre Dame over Miami (Ohio)

Josh Adams' night was cut short by an injured ankle but he still contributed more than enough to help No. 22 Notre Dame to its third straight lopsided victory.

Adams had touchdown runs of 72 and 59 yards in the first half before leaving the game and Brandon Wimbush threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Notre Dame beat Miami (Ohio) 52-17 on Saturday night. Adams, who entered the game as the No. 9 rusher in the country, led the Irish (4-1) with 159 yards on the ground despite the short night. Notre Dame gained 333 yards on the ground in all.

"Maybe I just woke up one morning, hit my head and came to my senses and said let's go to our strengths," Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said. "We got really good players I want to feature. I wanted to change the focus to being a much more physical team and running the football."

No. 21 Notre Dame beats North Carolina 33-10 for 5-1 start

Notre Dame didn't have its starting quarterback, and its best runner was limited by dehydration. The Fighting Irish also had to operate in rainy conditions on the road.

    And they did just fine.

Josh Adams ran for 118 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown, and No. 21 Notre Dame stuck with its strong ground game to beat North Carolina 33-10 on Saturday.

No. 13 Notre Dame hammers No. 11 USC, 49-14

Coach Brian Kelly expected 13th-ranked Notre Dame to win big against No. 11 Southern California. He even wrote it down on a piece of paper in the locker room before the game.

"I said if we didn't win really big, I would be disappointed," he said.

He wasn't disappointed, and neither were his players who doused their coach with water following a dominating 49-14 victory over the rival Trojans on Saturday night.

No. 9 Notre Dame wears down No. 14 behind Adams and Love

There was plenty of Love in the air and on the ground as No. 9 Notre Dame continued its comeback season with a convincing 35-14 victory over 14-ranked North Carolina State on a blustery Saturday afternoon.

No. 9 Notre Dame rebounds from Miami loss to edge Navy

With their slim College Football Playoff hopes fading, Brandon Wimbush and Notre Dame finally found a rhythm and put Navy away.

Wimbush threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score as No. 9 Notre Dame rallied in the rain and wind to beat Navy 24-17 Saturday.

Boykin rallies Notre Dame to Citrus Bowl win over LSU

Notre Dame receiver Miles Boykin lived up to Brian Kelly's expectations.

The Fighting Irish's head coach told the junior during a practice leading up to Monday's Citrus Bowl game against LSU that Boykin was going to win the MVP trophy.

Boykin made not only one of the top plays of this bowl season but one of the more memorable catches in Notre Dame bowl history. He made a dynamic one-handed grab and raced down the sideline for a 55-yard touchdown with 1:28 remaining to give the 14th-ranked Fighting Irish a 21-17 victory over No. 16 LSU.

Book, defense lead No. 8 Irish past No. 7 Cardinal

Ian Book and Miles Boykin, the heroes of Notre Dame's Citrus Bowl victory on New Year's Day, worked their magic once again and a stifling defensive line chipped in as the No. 8 Irish broke a three-game losing streak to No. 7 Stanford with a 38-17 victory Saturday night.

Williams runs No. 6 Irish past No. 24 Hokies, 45-23

Dexter Williams burst through the line, suddenly saw nothing but green in front of him and was gone.

In a span of seconds, fans of No. 24 Virginia Tech went from roaring with certainty that the Hokies were about to make the kind of defensive play that can change a game to watching it flip in the other direction as Williams sprinted 97 yards down their sideline.

And soon, a tight game was no more, the No. 6 Fighting Irish pulling away for a 45-23 victory on Saturday night.
