Let's see how vast we differ on certain topics. Say you're the president, how would you fix _______? First topic: Education system. Go!
Promote any teacher who has sex with her students to Principal. Kick all high school students with GPA under 2.0 into the streets, while yelling, "Get a job, bum! Or get pregnant!" Just like when I grew up. Why does every small town need a 2-year college to keep the flunkouts out of employment? If the young bums were working the fields, we wouldn't have the problems with immigration and flooded message boards. A hairbrush hung on the wall in my 1st-grade classroom. Miss Jackson used it on my fanny on the first day of school, to set an example. (I was talking a second after the bell rang.) My grandfather's brother got a strap on his knuckles on his first day one year, because his brother had been a brat, so the same teacher started him off right. (The male teacher told him right then that that was the reason.) The problem with this S2 board is, no discipline. It starts at the top. The mods are loose because they've never felt Denny's whip. Especially that Navy mod, what's his name, Captain of the Tug or something. He needs to get his strap and put Strenuous into line. If Denny would crack the whip we'd get this board into fighting form from top to bottom. We'd show the world what a modern sports board looks like with 21st-century technology. Who's with me?
Hippies changed the whole American culture around 1970. Now, schoolboys wear t-shirt and blue jeans. We were sent home for doing either. Girls had to pass the kneel test for miniskirts. Now they wear pants. Also, legalize LSD. Strong trip, but no one ever died from it. History textbooks should have at least a chapter on the influence of hippies. I'm just getting started. You want any more about education?
Send Betsy DeVos back to attending Junior League tea parties and replace her with someone who has at least a fragment of a brain........
Get rid of the teachers union. Give raises to the best teachers, not the ones who have been there the longest. Institute a dress code through high school. Cheaper for parents, and cuts down on social class issues. Get rid of janitors. Students clean up after themselves. Get rid of homework. Instead, take out 1 elective and institute a "work period" with an instructor to assist with assignments. Math, english, history, personal finance, computers, elective, work period. Get rid of standardized testing
De-couple school funding from property taxes; instead provide money on a purely per-student basis from a general fund that is funded by multiple taxes (lottery, property, vehicle, sin taxes, etc.). Education should be an equalizing force, not an amplification of class hierarchy. Limit funding for sports to be no more than the total funding for music, art, and engineering (shop) classes in the school. Completely defund football due to long-term health and safety concerns.
Set taxes on the wealthiest Americans back to what they were before the Reagan era. Problem solved as now your school systems will have enough money to hire the best teachers.
School should be taught by online courses. https://www.khanacademy.org/ Teachers are more and more useless, they are basically glorified babysitters for the most part nowadays. Fuck paying them more, there is no correlation between teacher pay and achievement of the students. There should be more emphasis on lifeskills and practical things. Shit like how to balance a check book is more valuable than learning the Pythagorean theorem. While that should be taught too, there needs to be more well rounded education so people just aren't memorizing and forgetting useless shit.
Make schools prisons. Regular elementary school until age 10. Then, prison school. Learn what you need to learn and you can go home. Don't and you stay until you're 18.
yeah..shit can teachers unions as well as all public unions...the idea that we spend 12800 per student per year, get incentive's to teach in Spanish to non English speaking as well as English speaking..and have a four year graduation rate of 68 percent is atrocious
It is amazing what new grads of college do not know. I have a recent graduate who came to work with us recently. She needed to send some checks as part of a project she was working on. She did not know that checks need to be signed and sent some unsigned checks to people.
I was just talking to a guy that has taken custody of his grand son. Kid quits school, so the state will not let him get a drivers license..so he cant get a job unless someone drives him around...just messed up. If the state can not provide a descent education to get these people ready for ;life, you know for damn sure the military can. The only adjustment I would make on your idea would be a four year enlistment, rather than two
