NC State rebounds after 2 tough losses for 17-14 win over BC

Nyheim Hines was feeling much better on Saturday after injuring his right ankle two weeks ago.

The rest of his teammates are feeling pretty good now, too, with a chance for a memorable conference record.

Hines had a 50-yard scoring run midway through the fourth quarter, and North Carolina State rebounded from two tough losses against high-ranked teams with a 17-14 victory over Boston College.

No. 4 Clemson stays in playoff hunt with 61-3 Citadel win

First and foremost for Clemson coach Dabo Swinney, Saturday's 61-3 win over lower division Citadel counts as a victory.

But it also gave him a chance to rest key starters and see just about every player on his roster on the field as the No. 4 Tigers prepare for their bitter in-state rival, a conference title game and with two wins, another playoff bid.

Wolford, Wake Forest upset No. 25 NC State 30-24

The lead was about to slip away from Wake Forest when Demetrius Kemp took the ball away from No. 25 North Carolina State.

Kemp forced a fumble inches from the goal line in the final minutes and recovered it to preserve the Demon Deacons' 30-24 victory over N.C. State on Saturday night.

    Jackson's 19th TD pass, Hokies 'D' stops Virginia, 10-0

Virginia Tech defensive tackle Ricky Walker's eyes got wide when he heard the number: The No. 24 Hokies held Virginia to 5 rushing yards Friday night, and 191 yards in all, in a 10-0 victory. It was their 14th straight win in the series and third shutout of the season.

Freshman Pickett leads Pitt to 24-14 upset over No. 2 Miami

Miami spent the better part of 13 months putting together the nation's longest winning streak behind a series of comebacks that returned the swagger to "The U" in all of its "Turnover Chain" glory.

Sluggish throughout the first half against Pittsburgh on Friday, the Hurricanes figured they'd come out for the third quarter, hit the gas and survive just the way they've done time and again during their rebirth under second-year coach Mark Richt.

    Nope.

Miami's perfect season is over. The second-ranked Hurricanes can only hope their shot at a College Football Playoff berth isn't gone, too.

Freshman quarterback Kenny Pickett ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the Panthers pulled out a decisive 24-14 stunner that sent Miami reeling into next week's ACC title game showdown with defending national champion Clemson.

Bryant leads No. 4 Clemson to 34-10 win over Gamecocks

When a championship is in the balance, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney knows he can count on Hunter Renfrow.

The receiver had a pair of touchdown catches as the fourth-ranked Tigers won their fourth straight over rival South Carolina 34-10 on Saturday night. The victory kept Clemson on track for a third consecutive trip to the College Football Playoff.

Bryant, No. 1 Clemson pound No. 7 Miami 38-3 for ACC crown

Kelly Bryant long ago laughed off those worried he couldn't succeed Clemson's national championship icon Deshaun Watson this year.

How's the ACC championship game MVP look now?

Bryant ran for a touchdown, threw for another and passed for 252 yards to help the top-ranked Tigers (12-1, No. 1 CFP) claim their likely spot atop the College Football Playoff poll with a 38-3 victory over No. 7 Miami on Saturday night.

Jones leads Duke over Northern Illinois, 36-14

In mid-November, after a loss at Army, the Duke Blue Devils were looking at spending a second straight holiday season at home.

That made Tuesday's success in the Quick Lane Bowl even sweeter.

After a six-game losing streak dropped them to 4-6, the Blue Devils (7-6) had to beat Georgia Tech and Wake Forest just to get bowl eligible. They managed that, got a bid to spend Christmas in Detroit, and salvaged the season with a 36-14 win over Northern Illinois.

Florida State beats Southern Miss 42-13 in Independence

Freshman James Blackman was throwing the touchdown passes. Another freshman, Cam Akers, was gaining big chunks of yards on the ground.

Florida State might still be a little melancholy after a season that started with national championship hopes ended on Wednesday with an Independence Bowl win. But the performances from young players like Blackman and Akers in the 42-13 victory over Southern Mississippi are a solid hint that the Seminoles could be a powerhouse again in a hurry.

Wolford throws 4 TD passes, Wake Forest tops Texas A&M 55-52

Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson called it a fitting ending to senior quarterback John Wolford's adversity-filled career -- one where nothing seemed to come easy.

The four-year starter who battled through two difficult sack-filled 3-9 seasons to begin his career, threw for 400 yards and four touchdowns to help Wake Forest beat Texas A&M 55-52 in the Belk Bowl on Friday.

NC State beats Arizona State 52-31 in Sun Bowl

North Carolina State's offense came up big in a Sun Bowl matchup that was supposed to be about defense.

Nyheim Hines had three of North Carolina State's Sun Bowl-record six rushing touchdowns to help the Wolfpack beat Arizona State 52-31 on Friday. Hines' three scoring runs were all from 5 yards.
