I don't necessarily think it will work.. Maybe though. I wouldn't do Nurk for Gasol. Just an idea for fun (that some people will take too seriously).

I mean, I'd there's 3 first round picks attached I think they'd at least look at it.

And we give them 3 first round picks to do so! 4 first round picks if we could trade Davis to BOS.

Okay. But there are rules about trading picks. That would take like 6 years or something? Or is that second rounder only?

    I think it's a good risk.

My first reaction to this was one of sarcasm: "yes, because THAT is what we need.....an old Center who gets killed routinely by Nurk, who's no slouch in defense himself."

But....then I thought of Gasol mentoring Collins......

    I was like

    Then I was like

I actually think that could work VERY well in the long run.

Huh. I would do this. I love Nurk, but....we need old man leadership on this team.

When was Gasol killed by Nurk?

Last season and this season. Unless I'm remembering the matchup wrong? I'll have to look it up on YouTube, perhaps.

We're not getting out of the first round with who we have 4-15. So it doesn't matter who our center is.

Well....realistically, nobody but GS, Houston, or the Celtics have a legit chance of winning a championship. I don't even think LeBron and company can do it this year....I think they'll make it far in the playoffs but lose in the ECF.

But that doesn't mean that I don't want the best team we can muster on the floor; whether we make it through the playoffs or not.

I certainly wouldn't trade Nurk for Gasol.
Lillard/CJ/Gasol doesn't beat GSW right now.

Lillard/CJ/Nurk has a better chance than Lillard/CJ/Gasol to beat GSW in 2-3 years.

    Get better players 4-10.
The only player on this roster who fits with the Current 1-3 is Aminu.
Napier, Turner, Vonleh, Harkless don't fit on this roster.
    Davis is a hustle player.
Jury is out on Collins & Swanigan still.

If we can't be competitive in a 2nd round series than it's pointless to me. I'm young but I'm already getting tired of being a treadmill team. The fans aren't even loud anymore because this team doesn't bring any real excitement. If we had a situation like Philadelphia, the stadium would be rocking. I'd be okay with hitting the reset button by firing Stotts and Olshey and hiring Sam Hinkie. Wouldn't want a terribly long "process" but if we traded CJ to, say, Cleveland for the BKN pick, we could have two top 10 picks to work with.

We're just so locked into mediocrity right now. I'm not pleased.

I disagree on Vonleh. I think he DOES fit. Nurk plays better when he's on the court, IMO. And he's strong as a motherfucker. He got that baby head on an adult body though....don't look right.

I'm not sure what to think about Gasol vs. Nurk. On one hand, I think we could really use an All Star vet of Gasol's caliber; especially if he puts up the kind of numbers for us that he did against Indiana recently. I also think he could provide leadership for us in hard times and develop Collins. I think Collins would benefit hugely from being mentored by someone like Gasol....if he bulks up, they kind of share the same frame, so Zach could learn some valuable skills from Marc.

On the other hand....I like Nurk more, for his age and the atmosphere he brings to this team; defensively and in presence. I think he's only going to get better with time....he's still very young.

It should be an easy choice: Gasol. But I really like Nurk...and Gasol is not getting any younger. The fact that he's still having games of 20+ at 32 is impressive.

The issue with this is, A: Gasol isn't the 3rd option on his team and B: you're trading away potentially 5-9 more years of basketball for 3.

Vonleh struggles to score. He does however have a natural ability to rebound and a knack for defending several positions. He is not someone that we should look to move. He IS worth developing further unlike others on the roster.

I like Vonleh. Personally because I despised Batum so much this trade is a win in NO's column for me.
However until Vonleh shows he can hit the 15-20 footer consistently he doesn't fit with Lillard/CJ/Nurk.
If he could hit this jumper once or twice a game. I'd lock him up 4/55per.
But Portland has enough one way players on the roster.

I love the Gasol bothers. I've thought one of them has been the best Center in the league for a couple years.(when he's healthy)
However due to GSW, I can't justify Marc Gasol on this team.
Nurk should be hitting his prime when GSW starts to show holes from all the basketball miles they'll put on. Hopefully that puts Portland over the top.
    The only other options are.
    1. Land LeBron.
    2. Full rebuild.
