The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. The problem is that Stotts' insanity on this point is driving me insane too.
Come on Speed, Beal admits other teams have been shutting him down with double teams since Wall went out - this was so, so stupid.
Ummm... the rest of the starters went 7-30. You dont think at some point you let the other players shoot and double Beal? That's literally the most common sense thing to do.
Reminds me of when Charles Barkley went up to Don Nelson in the playoffs. Charles "You gunna double me?" Nelson "We're not going to double you." Charles "You're NOT going to double me!" Nelson "We Are Not going to double you!" Charles proceeds to have the best playoff game of his career.
There's still room on the fire Stotts bandwagon. A few people jumped off after the road trip, but I think their ankles have healed enough they can make the jump back on.
The only injuries on the road trip were to other teams' better or best players. Conley, Russel, Wall.....and barely pulled out wins.
I remember that game and that series. Chuck dropped 56 on them in a 140-133 win that clinched the series sweep. He totally destroyed them in that game and that series. He averaged 37.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 3 steals in that series. In hindsight, they probably should have triple teamed him. BNM
If they had they would've been following the rule: have the weight of the defense equal the weight of the offensive player.
What does not double teaming Charles Barkley have to do with the rings Nelson won while a Boston Celtic?
