Foster leads Creighton to 100-89 win over No. 23 UCLA

Mitch Ballock could have played just down the road at Kansas, close to where he grew up in the small town of Eudora, but he spurned the college hoops powerhouse to sign with Creighton.

He got a chance to put on a show for his boyhood fans anyway.

The freshman guard hit four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points, Marcus Foster overcame an early shooting slump to score 23, and the Bluejays beat No. 23 UCLA 100-89 on Monday night in the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Classic.

No. 5 Villanova beats Western Kentucky 66-58 in the Bahamas

Fifth-ranked Villanova failed to speed up Western Kentucky's controlled tempo and struggled to make shots through the first half of its Battle 4 Atlantis debut.

In the second half, the Wildcats looked far more like the high-scoring bunch that had cracked 100 points in each of their past two games.

Jalen Brunson scored 18 points while Villanova finally got loose in transition after halftime, helping the Wildcats beat the Hilltoppers 66-58 in Wednesday's opening round.

No. 5 Villanova beats Tennessee 85-76 in Battle 4 Atlantis

Fifth-ranked Villanova walked into the locker room at halftime facing a double-digit deficit against Tennessee and several players battling foul trouble.

The way coach Jay Wright figured, there was at least one positive note: His Wildcats should be fresh and ready to roll out of the break.

Jalen Brunson scored 25 points to help Villanova rally from 15 down and beat Tennessee 85-76 on Thursday in the Battle 4 Atlantis semifinals.

No. 5 Villanova beats Northern Iowa 64-50 for Atlantis title

Villanova coach Jay Wright loves playing in November tournaments, from the chance to learn how his team responds to early challenges and experiment with which lineups work best.

Of course, it helps that the fifth-ranked Wildcats keep winning trophies, too.

Mikal Bridges scored 18 points and Villanova pulled away down the stretch to beat Northern Iowa 64-50 in Friday's Battle 4 Atlantis championship game, marking the fifth straight season the Wildcats have won a November tournament.

Brunson leads No. 4 Villanova to rout of Penn

The venue, and its deafening noise, was different, but the result was the same for Villanova. The fourth-ranked Wildcats rolled past yet another Philadelphia opponent.

Jalen Brunson had 17 points to lead five players in double figures as Villanova routed Penn 90-62 on Wednesday night.

Seton Hall's second-half surge upsets No. 22 Texas Tech

Kevin Willard's words could be construed as both his belief and a warning to those teams who will come across Seton Hall's path.

The Pirates are not a one-man team.

"(Angel Delgado) understands that he has so many weapons around him," Willard said after Seton Hall's 89-79 victory over No. 22 Texas Tech on Thursday night. "Eventually teams are going to have to stop double-teaming him. ... I just think the guys around him are working with him to make it easier (for him)."

No. 4 Villanova sets mark with 19 3s in win over Hawks

Saint Joseph's fans love to chant, "The Hawk Will Never Die."

    Someone check for a pulse.

The bird needed some serious CPR.

Villanova turned the Hawks into birds of pray -- as in, please, Lord, make the Wildcats miss -- with a school-record 19 3-pointers in a 94-53 win on Saturday night.

Bragging rights: No. 21 Xavier beats No. 11 Cincinnati 89-76

Trevon Bluiett had another big game against Xavier's crosstown rival, one that ended with more hard feelings. The Musketeers' annual grudge match with Cincinnati fit the mold and left the city's college basketball fans with plenty to debate for another year.

Bluiett scored 28 points as the 21st-ranked Musketeers ran away to an 89-76 victory over No. 11 Cincinnati on Saturday, their eighth victory in the last 11 games of the series.

Seton Hall rallies to upset No. 17 Louisville 79-77

Desi Rodriguez scored most every time he had the ball against No. 17 Louisville, so it wasn't shocking for the Seton Hall senior guard to convert a final opportunity with the game on the line.

Other than the degree of difficulty in firing a winning shot over Cardinals 7-footer Anas Mahmoud, that is.

"I just wanted to be aggressive," Rodriguez said after his off-balance banker with 8 seconds remaining gave Seton Hall a hard-fought 79-77 victory "I knew I had to make a strong move, and I was just happy and excited that I finished strong."

Mikal Bridges scores career-high 28 to lead Nova past Gonzaga

Mikal Bridges hit Gonzaga with a dunk that rocked the Garden and followed with a block that sapped the Zags' spirit.

Against an NCAA title game finalist and in prime time on basketball's biggest stage, Bridges had his coming out performance as one of the top players in the nation.

Just check the replay of that sequence for confirmation.

"I just saw a lane and tried to go up and be strong," Bridges said.

Bridges hit five 3s and scored a career-high 28 points to lead No. 4 Villanova to an 88-72 victory over No. 12 Gonzaga in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

Bluiett scores 26, No. 13 Xavier beats Kent State 96-70

Coming off wins over two other highly ranked teams, Xavier had a chance to catch its breath, grind one out, and start getting ready for another payback game.

Trevon Bluiett scored 26 points -- the seventh time he's had 20 this season -- and No. 13 Xavier took control with an 18-point run Wednesday night, pulling away to a 96-70 victory over Kent State.

Delgado double-double leads No. 19 Seton Hall over VCU

With three talented seniors, four scorers and a solid defense, No. 19 Seton Hall is starting to look scary good.

Angel Delgado had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and the Pirates continued their impressive start to the season with a 90-67 victory over Virginia Commonwealth in the Never Forget Tribute Classic at the Prudential Center on Saturday.

DiVincenzo, Booth rally No. 4 Villanova past La Salle 77-68

Duke's run at No. 1 ended with a court-storming loss at Boston College and No. 2 Kansas wilted in a rare home loss.

Undaunted and undefeated, Villanova is charging toward the top spot.

"We played the next No. 1 team in the country," La Salle coach John Giannini said Sunday.

The Explorers got a taste of how tough it can be to knock off the Wildcats. La Salle scored more baskets, sank more 3-pointers, had more steals and still was just another victim in Villanova's unbeaten season.

Phil Booth scored 18 points and Donte DiVincenzo had 18 points and 10 rebounds to help the fourth-ranked Wildcats avoid an upset in a 77-68 win over La Salle.

Delgado keys No. 15 Seton Hall over Saint Peter's

After playing solid defense in a win over Virginia Commonwealth last Saturday, Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard knew that his 15th-ranked Pirates had to keep up the pressure against old-time New Jersey rival Saint Peter's.

"I thought if we could get them a little out of a rhythm, we'd be in good shape," Willard said after his team held the Peacocks to just one field goal among their first 12 shots in an easy 84-61 win at the old Walsh Gym on the campus of Seton Hall.

Foster scores 32, No. 25 Creighton gets past UT Arlington

Marcus Foster and No. 25 Creighton left no doubt with UT Arlington coach Scott Cross about why the Bluejays rank among the nation's scoring leaders.

Foster helped Creighton lead by 25 points in the first half, and the Mavericks never fully recovered in the Bluejays' 90-81 victory Monday night.
