Belinelli is a dude that just seems to fit off the bench on any team that has picked him up. Give them a 2nd and Layman (if they want to kick the tires on him).

Isn't Belinelli just a minor upgrade on Pat? And maybe not even that?

Moe + Vonleh (+ future seconds) for Belinelli + Ilyasova works. They are looking to shed vets for younger players and picks.

Meyers + Vonleh + picks also works, but I'm not sure how stupid ATL's GM is.

Vonleh + Swanigan (or any one of Connaughton, Napier, Layman) + future second for either Belinelli or Ilyasova also works.

Of course, Ed Davis + future 2nd also works, but I wouldn't be interested. Seems like it would just be rearranging deck chairs.

Lots of ways to make the salaries match.

Vonleh or even Moe for half a season of Belinelli doesn’t make much sense to me. Meyers maybe.

Portis is crazy. Scouting report from
    https://nbaprospects.com/2016summerleague/#/bobbyportis/

    - Grew up with a single mother and 3 younger brothers in a rough neighborhood

    - Under-privileged lifestyle

    - Hungry to be able to provide for his family

    - Grew up with a single mom, difficult life - made him want to work hard

    - Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders suggests Portis is crazy off the court. Nobody knows what is going on in his mind

    - His craziness manifests on the court, which should help him in the long run

    - Imagines the other team is after his mom before every game to make himself angry

Sounds like a man that came from nothing and made it into something. Which is the story of a lot of NBA players. He may be crazy, although none of us have the sufficient information to make that assumption, but his teammates still took his side when he broke Mirotic face.

Different positions. Belly would not affect Pat much.

No argument at all. But Belly usually plays the 3 and Pat has been ( Not that it can't change) playing the 2.
But yes he does slide to the three at times like last night when Stotts was going with three guards. Belly though is not really a shooting guard. He is a sharp shooter and is used as such. I think he would augment Pat well if given a chance to be on the court together with a quick guard like Napier.
    Just my take.

I think I'd rather keep pat. Better defender, lower paycheck, much more upside. Marco looks to simply be more aggressive on offense.

Feels like none of these trades makes the team better. The way they get better is to swing for the fences and deal one of the top 3 and hope they get a great return or a top 3 pick in the draft. Anything else just loses one annoying player for a new one.

My idea was to have both of them. I agree with you if it is either/or situation. You keep Pat.

Agreed. If you look at per-36 minute or per-100 possession numbers, you will see that Belinelli is a much more aggressive scorer.

I like Pat, especially given his age and contract, but I think there are times, especially in the playoffs, where we need that aggressive third scorer when teams focus on locking down Dame and C.J. I'm not talking about a Pat for Marco swap. I think Marco would make us better short term, but Pat is a better long term solution.

I guess it depends on the goal this year, since Belinelli is an expiring contract, and what we'd have to give up for him. If the goal is to get a higher seed and increase our chance of getting past the first round, I'd be willing to give up a future second rounder and a player that isn't part of the current rotation.

Agreed I think they both play a little at the 3 but I wouldnt want either of them doing that majority of the time. My main apprehension is the need for length and defense on the perimeter.

I'd take Belinelli if they take Layman.

Vonleh + Layman for Belinelli works.

I'd be fine trading Layman for a bag of chips. Vonleh has fallen out of the rotation, but I think we might be able to get something more valuable for him than a half season Belinelli rental.
