Add a #1 pick then Nurkic + CJ + pick For Anthony Davis + Second round pic coming back Then Vonleigh to Memphis for Evans Lillard Evans Aminu E. Davis A. Davis
Here's the thing: Boston is the front runner if NOLA decides to make him available. They can offer Tatum/Horford/top 5 lottery picks, etc. They have a ton of assets that they can throw at New Orleans.
Would Ainge pull the trigger on a Tatum/LA pick for AD? Seems like a no brainer but i was honestly shocked he traded for Kyrie because it cost them the BKN pick because he seems to over value his own players and never want to deal young players or picks.
So Greg Monroe has been bought out of his contract by the Suns.... If we can trade Meyers L. why not pick up Monroe!? Leonard and #1 pick (protected) to Memphis for Evans and then sign Greg Monroe
I would trade CJ for LaVine, Mirotic and the Bulls 1st rounder unprotected. We get better on defense, get better shooting at the 4, get Chief back to the 3 and get a better bench.
I don't know. Chicago will almost certainly not do that because they will likely have a top 7 pick and want to go young, so it's a moot point, but CJ is much better than LaVine at this point. I think given our recent form and the fact we have a good chance to be 6th seed (I don't want us to be 4th or 5th seed, avoid Warriors before finals) we might make moves to improve the roster and make it ready to compete now. Won't be surprised if we acquire both DeAndre Jordan and a decent wing before deadline (no idea who that could be, Evans? Mirotic?).
I don't terribly mind the Aminu/Vonleh for Crowder portion (though I think it makes us worse this year), as it frees up PF minutes and gets us under the tax line, but I don't see a whole lot of value in swapping Napier for Thomas. Replace Aminu with Harkless in that deal, and then it makes a lot more sense for us, I think.
No way I take IT. HE will not last long in the NBA. He already had his hayday. He will decline in almost every facet and his efficiency is almost the worst in the league.
He is an expiring. It's a way to get under the cap. Clevland will not do it however. They will need a young or two prospects and someone that can help them this year to even consider it.
It's a package deal. If they'd just swap Crowder/Aminu, GREAT! DONE! But with all the grumbling surrounding Thomas, and his pending free agency, maybe they see Bazz as a less corrosive option? Maybe even a BETTER option? Much better 3-point shooting, and better defense. He doesn't have the name, but I wouldn't put it past him to outperform what Thomas has given CLE. And with Love out they need a PF. So it all works together, not as individual pieces. I'd prefer to just swap Crowder/Aminu, but I think the multi-player trade actually works better for CLE.
Oh, I'm not advocating re-signing him! He's an expiring contract in my eyes! One that might help us get to the 2nd round, to boot. Maybe. But that'd just be a small bonus.
Ah--I had forgotten who was posting this. You have a lower opinion of Aminu's value to the team than most in here do, so of course you'd naturally not see Aminu for Crowder as a downgrade. My concern with this deal is that not only do I think it doesn't make us better, but it also doesn't get us below the tax line this year or save us any significant sum going forward. Long story short, since I don't see Aminu as a net negative like you do, I don't see any way this deal helps the team. Like I said in the other post (in an edit, so you might have missed it)--replace Aminu with Harkless, and then the deal makes sense (to me). As composed, I don't like it.
In fairness, Aminu and Napier are both players who could help the Cavs this year, and Vonleh and Napier are also still young prospects, so the pieces @blue9 included seem to fit your criteria.
Take my opinion of Aminu out of the equation and view it as: Getting a starting SF Making room to play our actual PF(s)* But I'd also be fine swapping Harkless/Aminu. Again though, from CLE's perspective I think they'd rather have Aminu. *Admittedly, with this trade we're trading out one of our PFs I'd like to create time for. But I'm comfortable with Collins/Ed/Caleb as our PF rotation.
If I had a ton of confidence in Crowder's ability to play here similarly to how he played in Boston, I'd view it exactly like that as well. However, the trend seems to be that players over-perform under Brad Stevens, and then disappoint once they leave his system. As such, I'd see it as relatively likely that Crowder wouldn't be any better here than he has been in Cleveland, and no better than Turner or Harkless already are for us now.
