No. 17 Wichita State pulls away to beat Tulsa 90-71

After making his seventh 3-pointer of the first half in as many attempts, Wichita State reserve Austin Reaves heard the whistle signaling a Tulsa timeout and tried to make his way to the bench.

    His teammates wouldn't let him.

Each one shoved or hugged him to celebrate a rare shooting display that sent the 17th-ranked Shockers to a 90-71 victory Sunday.

Temple storms back, knocks off No. 16 Wichita State in OT

Wichita State's first season in the American Athletic Conference has hit a rough patch.

Obi Enechionyia hit two free throws with 18.1 seconds left in overtime, and Temple handed the 16th-ranked Shockers their third loss in five games with an 81-79 victory on Thursday night.

No. 8 Cincinnati beats UConn 65-57 for 14th straight win

Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin says his philosophy when playing conference games on the road is to win and get the heck out of the building.

Jacob Evans III scored 19 points and No. 8 Cincinnati left Gampel Pavilion on Saturday with a 65-57 victory over a struggling UConn team. It was the Bearcats 14th straight win.

Reaves, Shamet lead No. 22 Wichita State past Memphis 85-65

Wichita State's lead had dwindled to five points when coach Gregg Marshall called a timeout to settle his squad and get key players back on the floor.

The result was a rejuvenated Wichita State that pulled away from Memphis in the 22nd-ranked Shockers' 85-65 win over the Tigers on Tuesday night.

No. 22 Wichita State routs UConn 95-74

As Wichita State senior Rashard Kelly stood with the ball in the opening minutes, the result of a second offensive rebound on the possession, a sold-out crowd rose to its feet and thundered applause.

The fans appreciated the effort, and both coaches pointed to that situation and ones like it after No. 22 Wichita State cruised past UConn 95-74 on Saturday.

No. 6 Cincinnati routs short-handed SMU for 16th win in row

Sixth-ranked Cincinnati is still undefeated in the American Athletic Conference, with its longest winning streak and highest ranking in coach Mick Cronin's 12 seasons.

The key now for the Bearcats is staying focused on the immediate future -- and not what could happen in March.

"We obviously know where we're at, but we have to keep on going," senior Kyle Washington said. "We just know how many games we lost, and we know when practice is and when's the next game. And that's the truth."

Washington scored 17 points on 8-of-12 shots and had eight rebounds in his 18 minutes as the Bearcats won their 16th straight game -- including all 12 AAC games -- with a 76-51 victory over short-handed SMU on Sunday.

No. 19 Wichita State upends No. 5 Cincinnati 76-72

Dave Stallworth was running the show the last time Wichita State beat a Top 5 team on the road. Landry Shamut took the lead as the Shockers did it again 54 years later.

This one, too, will be a reference point, given all that was at stake.

Shamut scored 19 points, and No. 19 Wichita State ended the nation's longest home-court winning streak, beating No. 5 Cincinnati 76-72 on Sunday to leave the American Athletic Conference race wide open.

Morris helps No. 13 Wichita State hold off Tulane, 93-86

After seeing his team cut a 16-point halftime deficit down to four with four minutes remaining, Tulane coach Mike Dunleavy hoped a trap would provide a turnover to make it a one-possession game.

Wichita State senior guard Conner Frankamp did not allow that to happen.

Frankamp scored six points in less than a minute to maintain the buffer the No. 13 Shockers needed to beat the Green Wave 93-86 on Wednesday night.

McDuffie leads No. 13 Wichita State past SMU 84-78

Markis McDuffie is feeling good just weeks before March Madness.

And that could be rough news for Wichita State's opponents.

McDuffie scored a season-high 26 points off the bench, including nine during the first four minutes of the second half, to lead No. 13 Wichita State to an 84-78 win over SMU on Saturday.

No. 23 Houston use big first half in 109-58 win over ECU

Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said his Cougars "came out sharp as a blade."

    That might be an understatement.

Rob Gray had 19 points and 11 assists, and No. 23 Houston used a huge first half en route to a 109-58 victory over East Carolina on Sunday.

No. 11 Cincinnati rallies for 82-74 win over Tulsa

Gary Clark was honored pregame as one of Cincinnati's seniors, but had to watch from the bench in foul trouble as the 11th-ranked Bearcats fell behind.

He made the difference when he finally got on the court.

Clark led a 24-4 run that put Cincinnati ahead to stay early in the second half, and the Bearcats held on for an 82-74 victory over Tulsa on Sunday that preserved their one-game lead in the American Athletic Conference heading into the final week.

No. 11 Wichita State needs OT to beat UCF

Wichita State says it wasn't looking past the University of Central Florida, but it did take a while for the 11th-ranked Shockers to get serious about things, beating the Knights 75-71 in overtime on Thursday night.

No. 10 Cincinnati outlasts No. 11 Wichita State 62-61

Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin took a moment late in Sunday's game and was enjoying the atmosphere of his team's hard-fought regular-season finale.

"I'm busy coaching, but I will admit it," Cronin said, "during that last under-four (minute) timeout, I stopped and looked around and thought, `This is a great game."

And it ended with No. 10 Cincinnati outlasting No. 11 Wichita State 62-61 on Sunday to win the regular-season title in the American Athletic Conference.
