I disagree. Clarkson is better than post-hip-injury IT; they upgraded. Nance is likely better than whoever they'd pick at 23 (est); also an upgrade. I think they made their team better this year, and that's all they really care about right now, but even if (when?) Lebron leaves, I think they're better off having done this deal. Without Lebron, cap space will mean nothing in Cleveland.

He's as bad of a defender and he's not very efficient. Clarkson is a good 6th man on a team full of defenders. In CLEs case, not a good fit.

As bad? No. Nobody is as bad as IT. He's not good, but let's not overstate it. And he iss going to be their 6th man--Hill is going to start.

I think they erred by dealing Wade away. He was still playing effective defense off the bench. Hill/Hood backed up by Clarkson/Wade would have been an excellent guard rotation.

Am I the only one concerned Magic Johnson just gave Dan Gilbert HIV? I mean wow, talk about a trade rape, not only did the Cavs help the Lakers clear cap space to chase PG13 and Lebron they also gave them the best player in the deal and first round pick.

Seriously, cap space, IT and his bird rights and a 1st round pick for a chucker in Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. No wonder why Lebron wants out of Cleveland. Enjoy the HIV Dan, your not winning a title your Tax bill is 50 million and you just made it possible for your franchise player to leave your organization that much easier.

yet the other trade they did was I think pretty darn good, all in all Cle had a pretty decent day IMO and they transformed there roster and kept Brooklyn's pick. Some times trades are good for both teans

Getting Hood and Hill was fine especially since the only piece they gave up was Crowder while I may hate the first trade got to at admire the for having some balls lord know this franchise could use a pair.

Not sure if you've been watching IT lately but he's been actively doing his best to sabotage the Cavs season. So much so that some have seriously theorized that he's still on Danny Ainge's payroll. This was a good trade for Cleveland.

Wait a minute, Cleveland helped the Lakers with capspace so thry can lose Lebron this summer to the Lakers.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Lakers probably could have freed that space anyway--Clarkson and Nance weren't unmovable contracts. Cleveland is making a last ditch effort to convince James to stay (and to maximize what could be their last year with James).

Also, I'm sure they didn't want to pay Thomas in the future, so they moved him and got a little value back.

I don't think Cleveland fundamentally changed their outlook for the season, but they should at least stay afloat without Love and should be a little better in the playoffs.

I'm not sure Toronto agrees. Detroit may be a problem too. East is suddenly very competitive. Playoffs are going to be awesome.

Then they have as much financial flexibility as possible.

Exactly, LA can now chase this year or next. Boogie, Lebron, George all viable targets now, Leonard, Irving, Butler, Love, Whiteside in 19. They just need 2 of them to say yes.

Omitted were Thompson and Durant who I don't see leaving the Warriors.

He's salty. Cavs new GM did a good job. They got "role" players, but man, he didn't give up anything valuable and get a new starting lineup and better bench. Younger and more hungry.

I agree that the Cavs GM completely sucks, if by the Cavs GM you mean LeBron James....
