I was wondering about the differences between what a person hears on the tv and what a person hears who is actually at a game. Not in the nosebleed sections, but down fairly close. I know these guys talk to each other all the time. Disputing calls, talkin trash, complaining etc. On the tube I hear pretty clearly the crowd, and the squeaking of the players shoes, but I can never hear much of anything the players are saying. Is that because much of it is profanity laced ? Recently I became aware of some guy with a really loud voice counting down the last 7 or 8 seconds of the shot clock. I had never noticed it before.
This last year of scott brooks tenure in OKC. He would start yelling 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 when the Blazers had possession at like 10s.
24 hours 68 views and nothing ? No comments or even a "Sorry, Bob, but I've never been to a game before" reply. Thx sleepwalker and honkicracker for at least some kind of reply. Later guys. I think I'm out.
not a sound, so sorry for not accurately answering, but when I sat in mike rice's seats once, I noticed how almost every time a player went to the bench, they looked up at the individual stats board in the corner.
IF you watch enough games and have an ear for audio, then you should know the sound will be different. The audio output for television is controlled with a variety of mics with narrow range, so they can pinpoint certain sounds to broadcast and omit others. This is why you will hear the announcers just fine and then notice the crowd noise go up or down a bit behind them. This isn't the crowd, its the audio engineer turning the channel for crowd noise up or down. The BEST way to answer this than relaying on responses form a bunch of basement dwellers is to get out to a few games. You will notice.
you should've mentioned Trump...just kidding...Good threads get buried here all the time...it's why I rarely start them...it's like fishing....sometimes you don't get a bite
⬆️ This is the guy you should blame for not filling up this thread with knowledge about game sound. ⬆️
Don't know. Most trucks have different variations of this depending on the size of the show. A truck we'd be in for a Duck basketball game on a regional broadcast(Probably 6 mics) is totally different then when we are covering gold for the olympics (Probably 200 mics)
Hey guys...... sorry, I didn't mean to spew an FDQ exit or anything. I'm dealing with some health issues I never had before. And to tell you the truth, it's kinda scary. I'm only 59. I have been feeling alone .....or something, and really I'm not. I have family. And about my post, it just hit me the wrong way at the wrong time. I thought I was being ignored. It made me mad, but that's probably cuz I'm mad about my own stuff. Its no ones fault here. So I'm not going to be around much anymore. I'd love too, but I just don't have the energy to read and post on all this stuff like I would like to. Some of you guys are posting machines LOL !! Anyways, Health to you all and GO BLAZERS !! OB
Best wishes to you as you deal with your health issues. Sorry you’re having to deal with this at a relatively young age. Try to drop in as much as you can, and stay optimistic, Bob. We’re rooting for you.
