Allen bounces back, Florida beats No. 12 Auburn 72-66

KeVaughn Allen finally got the message. It took a scoreless game and long chats with coach Mike White and two teammates to sink in.

Allen bounced back from his worst game in more than three years with 24 points, including a 60-footer before the halftime buzzer and two huge 3-pointers in the closing minutes as Florida beat No. 12 Auburn 72-66 on Saturday night.

No. 23 Kentucky pulls away from Mississippi 96-78

Kentucky has followed a four-game slide with four consecutive wins featuring some of its best play this season along with the poise that was missing during the slump.

The No. 23 Wildcats had all of those aspects come together late to beat Mississippi for a victory coach John Calipari suggested his young team had to win.

Kevin Knox had 22 points and Quade Green added 18, including eight during a 15-5 second-half run that helped Kentucky pull away from Mississippi for a 96-78 victory Wednesday night.

No. 16 Vols beat Georgia 66-61, win share of SEC title

The SEC's preseason media poll had Tennessee finishing 13th out of 14 teams in the conference. Tennessee (23-7, 13-5 SEC) instead shares the league championship with No. 14 Auburn, which was picked to finish ninth.

Admiral Schofield scored 23 points as the Vols came from behind and closed the game on a 9-0 run. The Vols said those gloomy preseason forecasts made this championship particularly sweet.

"It's always fun to have the last laugh," Schofield said.

Because Auburn won 94-84 at Tennessee on Jan. 2 in their lone regular-season matchup, the Tigers (25-6, 13-5) get the No. 1 seed in the Southeastern Conference Tournament that starts Wednesday in St. Louis.

Hudson gets hot, Chiozza sets record, Florida beats UK 80-67

With Kentucky rolling, Florida reeling and the lead dwindling, Jalen Hudson decided to do something about it.

His 3-pointer from the wing with 6:19 to play was a turning point -- for both teams.

Hudson scored 22 points -- highlighted by one that bounced around the rim several times and hit the backboard before falling through -- and the Gators beat the No. 23 Wildcats 80-67 on Saturday, ending the Wildcats' four-game winning streak.

No. 13 Tennessee holds on late to beat Mississippi State

No. 13 Tennessee came into the Southeastern Conference Tournament as one of the conference's top defensive teams.

It was the team's defense that bailed out a struggling offense in the Volunteers' 62-59 victory over Mississippi State in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Friday night.

Sexton leads Alabama's 2nd-half surge to beat No. 16 Auburn

Auburn's offense was flowing at the end of the first half. Desean Murray hit his third 3-pointer and ripped off five straight points to put the Tigers up 41-31 over the Crimson Tide at halftime.

Then, the Collin Sexton show started.

Sexton scored 31 points and Alabama used a strong second half to defeat No. 16 Auburn 81-63 Friday in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

Barford's 27 points sends Arkansas past No. 23 Florida

Believe it or not, Arkansas' NCAA Tournament hopes appeared all but lost a little more than a month ago.

The way the Razorbacks have played since, they're arguably the hottest team in the Southeastern Conference and looking to do far more than just reach the NCAAs for a third time in the last four seasons.

Led by Jaylen Barford's 27 points and 10 rebounds, Arkansas advanced to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament with an 80-72 win over No. 23 Florida on Friday night. The win is the eighth in the last 10 games for the sixth-seeded Razorbacks (23-10), a winning stretch matched in the SEC only by No. 13 Tennessee -- who Arkansas will face on Saturday.

Bone leads hot-shooting Tennessee past Arkansas 84-66

Admiral Schofield insists Tennessee's play in the Southeastern Conference Tournament isn't about validating the school's remarkable and surprising regular season.

Rather, trying to win the Volunteers' first tournament championship in almost 40 years is always where the Tennessee junior expected to be -- even when the Rocky Top faithful were disappointed by a preseason pick of 13th in the SEC.

Tennessee will have that chance at its first conference tournament title since 1979, courtesy of an 84-66 win over Arkansas in the semifinals on Saturday. The No. 13 Volunteers (25-7) showed off for all the SEC to see against the sixth-seeded Razorbacks, putting on a shooting exhibition in the first half and setting up a third meeting this season with Kentucky in Sunday's championship game.

Kentucky tops Vols, wins fourth straight SEC tourney title

John Calipari kept telling anyone who would listen that this group of Kentucky freshmen just needed a little more time than most to figure things out.

That faith was shaken when the Wildcats lost four straight games last month. But they delivered on their coach's optimism on Sunday.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 29 points, and Kentucky beat No. 13 Tennessee 77-72 for its fourth straight Southeastern Conference Tournament championship.

Kentucky defeats Davidson 78-73 without a single 3-pointer

Hitting a 3-pointer is as routine for a college basketball player as rolling out of bed in the morning. So imagine an entire team -- one with Final Four ambitions, no less -- going an entire game without making a single one.

    And winning anyway.

Fifth-seeded Kentucky all but ignored the arc Thursday night and failed to make a 3 for the first time in nearly 30 years in its 78-73 victory over Davidson in the NCAA Tournament.

Florida bounces Bonnies after their 1st NCAA win in 48 years

Egor Koulechov watched a heartbreaking NCAA Tournament loss as a freshman at Arizona State.

Four years and two schools later, the graduate transfer from Russia enjoyed his second NCAA experience quite a bit more.

Koulechov scored 20 points and Florida eased past St. Bonaventure 77-62 on Thursday night, ending the Bonnies' postseason two days after their first NCAA Tournament victory in 48 years.

Sexton, Petty lead Alabama by Virginia Tech 86-83

Avery Johnson has spent plenty of time trying to convince Alabama freshman star Collin Sexton to take ownership of his play and the Crimson Tide, a message the coach has repeated frequently during his team's uneven season.

It finally seems to be getting through. The fact it took until March hardly matters.

"(Sexton's) giving more speeches to our team, which is showing leadership," Johnson said.

Make no mistake, however. It's the point guard's play -- and not his talk -- that sent the Crimson Tide into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Sexton shook off a shaky and foul-marred first half to score 21 of his team-high 24 points after the break as Alabama took control late in an 86-83 victory over Virginia Tech on Thursday night.

    Harper's 3 helps cold-shooting Tigers beat Charleston 62-58

Nothing about Auburn's performance was pretty until Jared Harper drained a long 3-pointer with 1:17 to go against College of Charleston.

It was a huge shot, all right, and it allowed the Tigers to stick around San Diego for two more days.

Harper's tiebreaking 3 -- his only basket of the game -- helped Auburn beat No. 13 seed College of Charleston 62-58 in a Midwest Region thriller to avoid becoming the second No. 4 seed upset at Viejas Arena on Friday.
