The NBA should recognize the role players off the bench that help teams win and make the playoffs. Players like Ginobli, Jamal Crawford, Ed Davis deserve some recognition and not just a one player award for NBA 6th man of the year. The history of the NBA has had players like Kevin McHale, John Havlicek and Billy Cunningham that were mainly role players off the bench early in their career and instrumental in their teams success. Any thoughts?
Makes a lot of sense. Other individual awards have a team corollary. MVP/All-NBA; DPOY/All-defense; ROY/All-rookie. It would be nice to have several bench guys recognized for their contributions. I'm with you.
It would be fun if you could make an all Star bench only team versus say all rookie team during the break
Since the NBA is a ego-centric, status driven league, it would be hilarious to hear guys bitch about not being selected to the All-Bench team. It would basically the equivalent to the Silver Slugger or Golden Glove award in baseball.
