    1. 26. Portland Trail Blazers: Zhaire Smith (Texas Tech, SF, Freshman)

Despite being raw without a great deal of skill, Smith has become an interesting name in the draft discussion for his explosive athleticism, defensive playmaking and flashes of shot-making (18-of-40 3PT). He hasn't made a decision on whether to enter his name, but long-term potential could be enough in the 20s of a top-heavy draft that appears to lack depth.

No way Smith falls far enough for Portland to pick him.

I do think this draft lacks depth, but there are quite a few under the radar types that I like & think will make decent careers in the NBA.

I want to like Evans, but there is something about him that is holding me back. Using their mock to identify other similar level talent, I like Fraizer and Hunter a lot more.
Also, I think Landry Shamet is being under-rated right now.

For me, Evans isn't close to an NBA level on offense for a SG. Overrated shooter (one motion but stiff, lacks shooting versatility) really straight line with the ball, limited athlete off one foot, doesn't handle contact well at the rim and I think his college ast% overrates his feel. Too often fails to perform vs good comp too.

Does he have the size to bring enough value and versatility on D to outweigh that? I don't think so.

I like how hard he plays, stand out 2 foot leaper and has a chance to be an average shooter, but I just don't think he brings enough to be more than a bench straight SG on a lottery level team.

We will trade our pick. Unless we find another Zach Collins at SF like Kuzma?.

Every scouting report you give is negative haha. Did you create the "Weaknesses" portion of DraftExpress's old scouting videos? Haha.

I watched just about every Oregon game and a lot of them I didn't even notice that he was in the game.

Not all, but I do tend to focus more on why prospects could fail as impact nba players. Because the fact is, most of them will.

    Tough call.
We would like another vet, absolutely. But, we will also be in the luxury tax, and the best way to save $$$ is rookie contracts.

So, I think it'll be the other way around. We'll keep the pick unless we get a trade we love.

Suns will have a lot riding on a coin flip with picks they got in trades. They have a 1st rounder from Miami and Milwaukee but they tied for 16 and 17 and the Milwaukee one conveys to the Suns if it is 16 and Milwaukee keeps it this year if it is 17. So the Suns could have 1, 16, and 17 or just 1 and 16 all based on one slot.

Yeah like so many of these 1 and done's.......no outside shot yet. He will struggle for a while but he does have potential.

There will definitely be a very good player available at 24 who will need a year or two to develop. But someone smart needs to pick the right kid.

Your order doesn't reflect the coin flips from yesterday.

And if we take DiVincenzo with Hutchinson or Bates-Diop still on the board I would be pissed.

I'd hope Portland would trade down a few spots & pick up a early/mid-second (Philly?).

Shamet or Brunson should be Portland's target.

I watched Bates-Diop very closely during the NCAA games here in Boise.
I don't like him. He has a nice shot, but feels like he has lead feet.
