Toronto is a good example of why we should stay the course

They've kept their core despite many playoff disappointments and have added young players and now they're in a position to win it all. We don't have to trade everybody and fire the coach.

I think you'll get your wish. I don't see Olshey messing with his homegrowns that he hangs his reputation on. If the core had a higher ceiling, I'd be on board with baking. I think Stotts has tapped out the potential with this group. Who, realistically, can take a sizeable leap and elevate the team with it? Maybe Collins and Nurk, but they're athletically limited players whose ceilings are not that much higher than where they currently play.

To their credit, the Blazers became entertaining and watchable again. That's important, but they still disappointed us yet again. We're the Webster's definition of middling and it seems like it's been that way forever. So, I hear baseball may be coming to Portland?

Toronto do not have millions invested into useless players. They've given big money to good players, and filled the rest of the roster with young and hungry talent. We don't resemble that team at all.

Wait, what? Collins is "athletically limited" and doesn't have much more improvement coming? That's wrong.

I think he can be a solid starter for sure. I mean, he's basically already playing like one for this team. You think he can be an All-Star? I don't see it. That's what would be required to elevate this specific team to a more legitimate championship threat imo.

We have kept Meyers Leonard for 5 years. Even signed him to an extension. Olshey will stay the course unfortunately. Until he’s fired at least

At the very least, there should be verbal or written warnings to the people who start threads like this

An all-star in terms of impact, not stats, yes.

They have better GM, better coach, better system, better bench (young core).

We have regressed ... or we have been overtaken by other teams.
Swept last year. Swept this year?
Let's be honest: being swept by the Pelicans would make us the 10th best team in the West. Lakers and Nuggets would be ahead of us next year. Even the Clippers who just blew up everything would be better.
For Stotts to not lose his job ... he needs to win this series. I don't care how he does it.
That 3rd quarter was brutal. Our Defense just stinks. We pay a guy $17m to score 0 points. When was the last time CJ had a decent game? 9-21 is probably his best shooting performance in a month. I expect more from CJ.
Their stars balled. Our stars are still eating dinner at the restaurant with the espn.com reporter ... and wearing expensive chains ... sick, sick, sick.
I hope our ego makes us come back. CJ/Dame need to lead the way.

That's what people said last year and then we improved our win total by 8 this year.

I don’t think people said that around the same time last year, more like people were enthusiastic about having full season of Nurkic with Lillard and CJ around. We went on a great run after Nurk came and then had a good game against Warriors when he was available. An improvement over last year was probably expected given we added a top 10 pick to the roster and had the player who made us better and was main reason why we crawled back into playoffs last season available for the whole year.

I'm done basing this team off the regular season. Playoffs are what matters...

The two coaches play a similar style. They had a bad team for a long time and had good draft picks.

Their all star back court isn't undersized. They had the personnel and cap flexibility to get their supporting cast. I just feel like Toronto and our team are apples and oranges. I can appreciate your positivity but I still think changes need to be made.

Everyone said they were crazy for paying Lowry what they paid him.
    Same with Jrue Holliday.

They are just delivering. We have the talent to win it all, its a mindset issue with the Blazers.

While I don't think we have the talent to win it all, it's definitely a mindset problem. But is that on Stotts or the players?
