With Milwaukee going out recently after 7 games, I think that, if we're going to trade McCollum, it'll be to the Bucks.

I'd be pursuing Middleton and Brogdon. Middleton would be the perfect SG next to Lillard, and Brogdon is the guard we need off the bench. Or, we could start Brogdon at SG and Middleton at SF.. Obviously both of those guys combined are more valuable than McCollum, so we'd either have to take on bad contracts, and/or send out picks.

MIL Gets: McCollum, 2019 POR 1st
POR Gets: Middleton, Brogdon, Dellavedova, Snell (TPE), Brown

Maybe we have to give up more... but Milwaukee would save around $10M and that would likely open up their full MLE (I believe they let Parker go if he makes $20M or more, but given the market, I don't think he does, and I think he stays in MIL). They could draft a ready to play guard with their pick (#17) in Khyri Thomas, and use the MLE to sign a wing off the bench or a SF starter (Will Barton?)

    Bledsoe / Thomas
    McCollum / Barton / Thomas
    Barton / Giannis / ?
    Giannis / Parker / Wilson
    Henson / Maker

We would still have #24 to use however we want, but I really like this lineup.. The switchability between SG, SF, and PF would be great defensively. We should be a top 5 defensive team with this lineup:

    Lillard / Brogdon
    Middleton / Brogdon
    Harkless / Turner
    Aminu / Collins
    Nurkic / Davis

Well, ya already got mine in a different thread a few days ago; that's the one where the Cavs want to deal Love after Lebron bolts, and the Spurs can't make peace with Kawhi, so we use CJ, Zach, our pick, and other pieces to get both. Something like:

I don't see Milwaukee trading Middleton this off season

I've spent the last hour reading Bucks fans thoughts on the off season. They have no cap space without signing Jabari Parker so if they retain him they are in a pretty bad spot plus they had a real disappointing season. Most fans seem to think getting Kemba Walker would be a realistic option. Trading for Walker would likely require them taking on a bad contract too. The good part about it would be if Middleton was involved then I think he'd be way easier to get from the Hornets because they are likely about to start a rebuild. How about this for a mega trade:

Charlotte gets Bledsoe, Henson, Snell, Dellavedova, #17 via Mil, # 24 via Por, 2019 lottery protected 1st via Por (Since this trade takes place after the new league year it would be allowed and the Bucks and us would be picking for them during the 2018 draft). They load up on a bunch of picks, actually save $12.5 million this year, and get out of Batum's awful contract. They could probably find another team to flip Bledsoe to as well.

Milwaukee gets Howard, Batum, Walker, and #55 via Cha. Their salary remains about the same but they completely reshape their lineup with three players that I think fit better with the Greek Freak and they get out of a bunch of bad contracts in the process. Walker, Brogdon, Batum, Antetokounmpo, Howard, Parker (re-signed), Maker, Zeller, Wilson, Brown, Jennings, #55, MLE, and BAE. That certainly would be an interesting team.

Portland gets Middleton (TPE after new league calendar starts) and finds a way to really upgrade the wing without giving up anyone of significance. I think this would be a home run for Portland and one of the few players I would give up a future pick for.

If we knew we had Middleton with the TPE locked down then we could revisit the NYK trade I suggested too which was CJ and Leonard for Noah, Lee, #9, #37, and a 2020 1st. We could use that 2020 1st instead of our own 2019 pick in the Middleton trade if that is better.

    Dame/Baldwin/Turner
    Middleton/Lee/
    Harkless/Bridges/Layman
    Collins/Aminu/Swanigan
    Nurkic/Davis/PapaG/Noah

Draft a stash player at 37 or if someone worth taking drops then take him and waive Layman.

If Nurk and Davis signed for a combined $23 million ($15 for Nurk, $8 for Davis) that would put our salary in the $148-$149 million range. That's pretty deep into the luxury tax but the summer of 202o we'd only have Dame, Bridges, Collins, Swanigan, Nurk (assuming he signed a 4 year deal), and any draft picks between now and then which could leave up to $50 million in cap space depending on other moves between now and then. We'd also have over $60 million in expiring contracts starting in the summer of 2019.

Isn't our TPE worth barely less than $13M? And Middleton is making $13M?

I do really like the idea of trying to get a really good rookie wing. Nurkic, Collins, the rookie, and Dame is 4/5s of a starting lineup, with 3 of them being young, and gives a ton of cap space with a good pick to trade. Great idea.

The TPE is worth $12.9 million. You can go $100,000 over if needed to make a trade work so it is exactly enough to make it work.

    CJ/Turner/OKC pick to Cleveland
    Lebron/Carmelo to Portland
    Korver/JR Smith/Aminu to OKC

Sign Avery Bradley for max MLE 4 years

    Lillard/Bradley/Carmelo/Lebron/Nurkic
    Connaughton/Harkless/Collins/Leonard

Yeah it's unrealistic, would never happen, etc.

If we could get Middleton from MIL for the TPE that would be amazing. My question is what separate sweetheart deal might they be interested in to get them to do it?

There’s no way they give up Middleton for a TPE....?
What do they gain by doing that?

Too bad Parker is a free agent otherwise I’d try to build a trade around cj aminu for Middleton Parker.
Aminu seems like a good fit in MIL.

Cap flexibility? We would have to throw them something else in a separate deal. I have no idea what though.

And get who to come to MIL with that cap room? Middleton is the poster boy for what you want in a wing in the modern nba. Great 3 point shooter and very capable defender.

On another note, I would love to get terry rozier here as our 3rd gaurd

In this thread I posted a trade that involved the Bucks getting Kemba Walker for a package around Middleton but the Hornets flipping him to us to save money and add picks.

If they re-sign Parker they are likely going to be pushing pretty close to the luxury tax. I'm not sure that ownership group will allow them to be a tax team without being better.

If we could get Kawhi for that, I'd pass on the Cleveland portion, personally.
