Hey man, you live near Jason Lee elementary don't you? Any chance you might be able to swing by and see if they still have covered courts? :) I need to school you one way or another.

I do, and I probably could. All the schools in Parkrose are now completely surrounded by chain link (pisses me off--back when I was a kid, we spent all summer hooping at the schools...), but that one's outside my district, so maybe it's still available to the public.

This post sums up how I feel about this thread. It's kind of a fun discussion at this point, except all the weird insults and oddly personal stuff... The good news for the Blazers is it seems like their fans are passionate since we're here talking about them a month after they got knocked out of the playoffs. (has it been a month?).

There is one off Killingsworth and around 87th that is covered. Played some games there several years back.

So you don't think he did do that? Olshey didn't draft Aldridge so he had no emotional ties to him. He could have forced the truth out of him and at the deadline the truth could've been that he was staying. At that point when he changed his mind afterwards it was too late. Olshey hedged that bet by smartly being able to go a completely different direction if he did change his mind. We can argue how well he carried out that plan, but it is a fact that he at least had a contingency plan in place for that very scenario.

I keep thinking that there is no way Olshey would just let him leave without compensation in return if he knew or thought differently prior to the trade deadline. That leads me to believe either he thought Aldridge was staying or the most likely scenario is that Paul Allen wanted to go for it that year and deal with the consequences later. Based on Aldridge recently saying he made a mistake leaving it leads me to believe that he left just because and not for something someone did to him.

But only one of us spends all day feeling he has to defend any post that even remotely criticizes Olshey, and bitches and moans about the forum member who posted it

That’s a fair assessment to be honest.

Uh, I didn't start insulting gronk till he started insulting me. He doesn't like anyones opinion unless it is the same as his. Maybe you should talk to him instead of me. And next time, please keep your opinions of me to yourself rather than try and call me out. You don;t like me? Oh well, I'll be just fine.

As for my "speculation" it was based on the article I linked to and hoopsjock explained it very clearly to you guys but you want to go off on some wild tangent that fits your needs. Stick with some facts at least.

I respect most opinions... what I don’t respect is people who think Blazers fans deserve less, and don’t think anyone should be held accountable for the complete and utter failure of getting swept in the 1st round of the playoffs. I don’t have all of the answers, but I believe in accountability in life. The Blazers failed because someone didn’t do their job, so someone needs to take the fall to show fans the that they deserve better... I don’t respect some Neil Olshey fanboy making excuses for everything...

You are forgetting the ultimate wild card here and that is Olshey can only do something as drastic as trading Aldridge with the owner's approval. Based on the fact that Olshey is still employed by the Blazers I wouldn't be surprised if he could hold something like that as an excuse for keeping his job because Allen didn't fully let him do it. It's also the reason why the some of the contract situations of 2016 are not fire-able offenses either if the owner was the one who made the final decisions on them.

That's entirely fair, and I'm not forgetting it. We don't really know how much of that was PA or NO. What NO wanted, or what PA wanted. Like I've said, PA is apparently on board with NO right now, so either NO has done what PA has asked, or PA is allowing NO to do his thing and trusts in NO's plan.
I also think that PA didn't like the PR hit from when they were in the let's change GM's every year mode, so I think he wants continuity, but who knows I'm not privy to their thoughts or conversations.

I regret mentioning LMA in this post, not because I think I was really wrong, but it turned into something else, heh.

Seriously? That's what got you into a tizzy? saying "lol" is now deemed offensive and because I said it's hard to have mature discussions with "some of you"? Wow.

You guys are aware of this thing called Google Maps, right? Just looked and there’s a covered court behind the school.

Its your overall demeanor. I wouldn't expect you to understand though...

Its your belittling and talking down. Get it, don't get it. I don't give a shit. I know I am right and you are wrong.

I'll just pipe in to say that there were several posters here who argued strongly that Aldridge should be traded before that potentially special season, because of innuendo and in some cases inside knowledge that he wanted out and was not going to re-sign here.

As for during the season, based on the season the team was having and especially because of (I believe false) statements by Aldridge that he wanted to stay and be the best Blazer blah blah blah, I would concur that the Blazers hands were tied and there would have been a larger fan revolt had the Blazers traded him during that season.

To me it kinda doesn't matter any more. Bad things sometimes happen to good people. Like us ;)

And sometimes, something we thought was a bad thing turns out to be a good thing.
