Why are we discussing trades that have 0 logic behind the other team accepting? Trade a that are not even close to having even a little bit of a chance at both teams simply considering it? There is no realistic offer that I would take for Dame.
Shedding bad salary would not be needed if we are doing a full rebuild by trading Dame, CJ, and possibly a re-signed Nurkic (at some point) for a nice cache of draft picks. In fact, keeping ET, Hark, and Meyers would most likely improve our chances for high-end quality lottery selections with our own draft picks. Besides, those players only have 2 years remaining on their contracts.
Why are we discussing them at all? We should only deal in realism, not speculation. That's EXACTLY what forums are for. Only talk about things that have happened so we don't speculate or create rumors
Because there is a huge difference between discussing fun hypotheticals and trades that couldn't/wouldn't ever happen. Take these two trades: 1) Dame for the #1 pick and salary filler 2) Dame, Leonard, and Turner for Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, Markelle Fultz, #10 pick, and a future 1st round pick. The first one is fun to discuss because it is somewhat fair and it's interesting to think about what direction the team would go if they made a franchise altering move like that. It would be totally fine if this thread was about trades like that for Dame. However, this thread is based on a trade similar to trade # 2. A completely absurd trade with no awareness to how crazy it is and the poster keeps bringing it up as if he's come up with some brilliant idea when the post is moronic. To put a cherry on top he now thinks we can add Leonard to the trade too? C'mon man, you can't see how silly that is? The other issue is that it seems like he's trying to get Bones to question his statement and fandom by getting him to agree to a trade with Lillard involved after he said he wouldn't trade him. Of course anyone would do trade # 2 if presented but it's the most lopsided crazy trade I could come up with and has no regard for the reality that the 76ers wouldn't give up one of Embiid or Simmons, let alone both and add other good stuff too. That is exactly like the Boston trade proposal this thread is about. The same proposal that people told him Boston would never do in other threads and he still made another thread about it.
Would Hall of Famer Charles Barkley for Jeff Hornacek, Tim Perry and Andrew Lang be more like example 2? Cause that crazy trade really happened. Kareem, Russell, Wilt were all lopsided trades Maybe you could write up some rules on what we should and should not discuss, and why.
Ummmm, you kind of just proved my point. Dame isn't going to get back a monster package like the Boston one proposed in this thread or the fake Philly one I presented as those stars didn't either. Would you trade Dame for Gordon Hayward, Semi Ojeleye, and Daniel Theis? I certainly wouldn't but that is about what the 76ers got back for Barkley. That is an example of what you are saying and would be completely realistic to discuss. Saying Dame can fetch you Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown, and good 1st round picks just won't happen. Do you comprehend the difference?
Have fun guys! If Dame were to be traded I truly hope we get something huge in return! And if we are not going to help the guy out and bring in a new GM that can salvage this mess, let the poor guy go! I respect Dame. From what us fans know (not much of course) he appears to be such a high-character, stand-up and driven young man. As I stated, he’s one of my top three Blazers of all time. BUT I WOULD TRADE HIM IF IT MEANT WE COULD RETOOL THIS MESS AND HEAD TOWARD A TROPHY! For me anyway, it’s all about wanting another trophy in Poertland.
There's no trade that's realistic and worth it, so lets close this thread. Trading Dame isn't going to get us closer to another trophy. So nah... I want to win one with Dame over anyone else.
