With my personal opinion on if the player is over or underpaid. 8 - About Right, 4 - Under, 2 Over paid, 1 guy who I have no idea what his value is. I just did this as a mental excersize for myself to see how fair I have been towards NO, actually kind of surprised. Really the two guys that are easy to point too and say why are those guys making so much are ML and ET (but most of us knew that already). I think CJ Might be slightly overpaid, but no doubt someone would give him that much, so I listed him as about right.
It will be interesting to revisit this list in a month and a half and see how things have changed. Ed is a UFA, Nurk, Shabazz and Pat are all RFAs. Ed has been an absolute steal. Will someone else make him an offer he can't refuse? Will someone make Nurk a toxic offer with a ridiculously high first year to try to force Paul to pay a gazillion bucks in luxury tax? Will someone think Shabazz is a starter in this league and offer him starter's money? Will anyone notice Pat is a free agent? Inquiring minds want to know!!!! BNM
Definitely Agree with all those questions. If the Lakers strike out again in Free Agency (something they're pretty good at lately), wonder if they look at Nurk as a young talented guy that could afford to give a "toxic" contract too?
Good post. Agree with all assessments. I feel that the Blazers MUST, & will, re-sign Nurk. Ed is where i'm not sure. I think Most, if not all of us in here want the Blazers to re-sign Easy Ed. But if he gets an offer north of 10 mil, , i'm not sure the Blazers will match. Nurk is a young, developing center. Much harder to find that type of player in the draft or FA. Especially with his size, and developing skillset.
Unless someone gives Nurk a crazy offer the Blazers kind of “have to match”, I want Ed back too, I don’t really want Shabazz back. Doing this list was actually kind of interesting, as in my head the Blazers had a lot more “bad” deals than they really do.
If Davis wants to find a place to finish out his career, PDX is the spot. He could receive from there Blazers a decent enough contract to keep him, I could see the Blazers offering him longer contract for less money to accommodate his thinking about staying in place here. We need a guy like him as the vet, and one that can speak up and be listened too. He's more valuable than most think as a 4/5 with a top notch rep as a player and person. Plus he's a hell of a player!
Damn straight! The Blazers may try to do that, and Ed may decide to agree to it. Either way, Ed has become a part of Portland. If he stays, awesome! If he leaves for more money, we will understand, and surely invite him back to stay when his career is finished. He gets it. Portland is a pretty cool city to live in.
Ed is like the perfect back up big guy, I wish he had a bit more offense outside right around the rim, but he plays his role so well. He fits well with the guards and can clean up the misses.
Hey may be, he may not be. I heard the interview’s and was there anything that made it sound like Ed was gone?
As with most everything, different people will read what they want into it. Also as in most everything, no one is truly right or wrong. Too bad there are some here now who shit on the idea of discussion.
I guess he said he wants Collins to play closer to the basket. Since Collins usually plays with Ed, and we know Ed can't play on the perimeter, what would Ed's role be? If Lillard got the same message from Olshey's comments, could this be why he might want to talk to Allen? (I hope no one will object to me speculating...... )
Someone will. What also, if there have been talks about letting Nurk walk, and Collins would take his position, and that's why they said closer to the basket?
No this is exactly the type of answer I was looking for! That's an interesting take away. You may be right, Stotts seemed to play Collins a lot at the 3 point line. I kind of thought he wanted him on the block more like LMA played which I think Ed's role could still be to pick up the misses, but I can see how you one could come to that from the quote.
I can see that argument. Chief's an interesting player to me, he does a few things well, but something he does really bad, like dribbling for example...
Quite starting rumors you guys. Only discuss the exact words he said. Even though we KNOW NO sidesteps details and speaks in a roundabout way about the topic, do not try to read into his words. The next thing you know the Blazers edge headline will read, "Dame wants Collins traded, so Davis can stay with the team." by a source close to the team's online forum members". And then forum members around here will go ape shit LOL I said as much when I first read that statement too. Where does Ed fit into this. But then can Ed and Aminu be a backup 4-5? Cause Aminu is going to lose his spot to Collins this year. I don't think Aminu/Davis is big enough unfortunately. I do see Davis gone when you also add our cap space situation.
