yeah...actually he was...as a matter of fact, so was Victor Claver….I'm not calling either guy all nba defensive first team..but I think you're wrong about guys from Europe not being able to play defense...there are many examples. This guy was a capable defender and in his era he had no easy nights as a big

Ricky Rubio is an elite PG defender and doesn't get nearly the kind of credit he deserves

Bro, neither of those dudes were good defenders...

Batum was better than both and he was overrated.

Most Europeans are fundamentally sound defenders. Some might struggle with physicality but very few are overall liabilities because European coaches place heavy emphasis on team defense.

Andrei Kirlenko made the second all NBA defensive team twice, and first team once.

Always thought Dirk Nowitzki was a very good paint defender.

I guess the question is where in the draft do you look for defenders? The majority of young players have not yet needed to defend. Not saying they can't, just that in HS, AAU, and one year of college they just haven't.

It is bizarre to me that some think that the 24th pick in the nba draft should immediately become a rotation
player on a 49 win team. We should pick the player with the biggest upside. If we pick Simons, then I'll
be happy, it would definitely be because Neil thinks he has the most upside.

Ginobili. (Yes, he's Argentinian, but he came over from an Italian team. Plus he's basically Italian anyway.)

Then you should want Brunson over either of them.

Simons isn't the player with the biggest upside - that would be Mitchell Robinson. But of course upside isn't everything.

Are we really in a "win now situation"?

We're in a "win never" situation.

Ha ha ha! We should be in a "try to win in three years" situation. Which is why I am in the "Trade CJ" train. And I am sad about it as I like him a lot.

So, the world is Upside Down? :)
I believe you about Robinson, but if Neil goes after Simons, it's because he believes that Simons has a lot of Upside Up.

OK, I watched a video on Robinson - very interesting. If we draft Robinson, it'll mean Davis isn't being re-signed, though.

Highly doubt we retain Ed regardless of who we draft

I think we will try. So it depends on if he is willing to take a little less money from us then to move on. But I don't think he gets huge offers out there so I think he may want to stay. We might lowball him too much though...
