John Paxson: Bulls Will Be 'Cautious' In Free Agency

    After adding Duke big man Wendell Carter Jr. and Boise State wing Chandler Hutchison in the NBA Draft on Thursday evening, the Bulls will be "cautious" in the upcoming free-agency period as their focus remains on allowing their young core the opportunity to develop together, executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson told the Bernstein & McKnight Show.

    Some speculation suggested the Bulls could be aggressive in free agency, as their projected $24 million in cap space makes them one of only a handful of teams with significant space. While Paxson has spoken of his hope for the team's rebuild to move more quickly than some traditionally have, he intends for that to be through the natural development of Lauri Markkanen, Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, Carter and Hutchison.

    Not by adding a high-profile free agent this July.

    "I love these reports nationally, from people I know Gar and I have never spoken to," Paxson said sarcastically. "It makes for good stuff.
