Watching the replay right now and he made a play that reminded me of Jason Kidd. Good size and strength for a PG and he is fast with the ball in his hands. He just exploded to the basket by shifting into a different gear. He plays slow and controlled and then accelerates. Jason Kidd...final answer.
I hate to jinx it but how many times has Neil gotten rid of a young player (on a cheap contract) that we liked? It is usually the other way a round. He keeps players that most of you don't want. I just can't see him not keeping Wade. I think he let Napier go because of Baldwin.
I know people don't want to get their hopes up and are setting a lower bar for Wade, but really, let's be honest, he's the next Oscar Robertson.
We are wayyyy overreacting to some summer league games. I appreciate the optimism but we don’t know if he’s even an NBA starter let alone the guys that are being mentioned
Calvin, I loved you as a player, but you obviously need to work on your evaluation skills. Or at least you need to temper your enthusiasm less.
He plays defense and seems to be able to run an offense. That's a huge upgrade over any backup we've had in years.
As usual, when we play the remind me of game , some posters get a little confused by the word "remind". FYI it does not mean "will ever be as good as".
That's what I see as well. If you look up Wade Baldwin and Westbrook on Google, you will find those comparisons all over the place, from his high School days, his college days, and after being drafted. These thoughts come from various coaches, and various players. Even KAT said that he saw some Westbrook in him.
Guys i have a Bad feeling, Olshit said in the Interview during the Game that Evan turnover will be the primary ballhandler in the 2nd Unit, and they want to surround him with shooters, so i Don't know if he want's to Keep Baldwin because he needs the Ball in his hands to be effectiv. So thats a dilemma. He made it clear during the press Conference he want's shooters on the Team, and we have already 5-6 Guards. I'll be pissed if they let Baldwin walk and he ends up in Oklahoma or houston. #KeepBaldwin
I would hate it so much if we just renounced him. He's improved significantly since his Memphis days and is our best defensive guard, and the best option off the bench. It would make a lot more sense to waive and stretch Meyers and have $4million on the books for 5 more year. We'd have almost $10million in dead money but at least we wouldn't let a good player go for nothing because of past mistakes.
Well, he's not going to tip his hand. He said the thing that's going to keep his current vets happy, which is what he should do. You have to figure, though, that Olshey has seen Baldwin compete in practice going up against Dame and CJ. And you have to respect his ability to find diamonds in the rough in the past, particularly at guard positions. I don't trust Olshey on everything, but I don't expect to see him let Baldwin slip away.
