Stauskas game will look a lot better under Stotts system...so did Crabbes game...Crabbe looks nothing like he did in Portland now nor does Batum..guys who come here usually improve and gain value. I watched Stauskas film and he has more skills than I think you give him credit for...we'll see which is why I said it'll be a dogfight in training camp..he has Trent and Layman to beat out for Pat's minutes...I think Layman wins the spot

    Maybe this guy can help?

Nik Stauskas 2016 Season Highlights - YouTube

I haven't really followed his pro career that much, but watched him at Mich and he was a scrapper and move well w/o the ball.
Also, he is a slasher of which we really haven't had a good one except maybe Mo when he feels like it.

    A slasher? He's a career 43% 2pt shooter... we blasted Nurkic for shooting 51% from 2pt range! Stauskas shot 37% from 2pt last season too. I don't see how he's a slasher..

Even then, let's compare Crabbes Brooklyn year to Stauskas career best (similar situations).

Crabbe had a BPM of -0.8 last season. In 4 seasons, Stauskas has never had a BPM better then -2.4 (3 times worse).

Crabbe had a 55.8 TS% last year, while Stauskas' career high was 54.3%.

Crabbe shot 46.1% from 2P last year, while Stauskas has shot 43.5% for his career, and only had one season better than 44%.

Crabbe had a 12.3 PER last year, while Stauskas has a career high of 9.2.

So you say Crabbe looks nothing like he did in Portland (he was mediocre when he was here), yet his season last year is far greater than any season Stauskas has ever had. So Stauskas might get to the level that Allen Crabbe was last year for Brooklyn, which would be a huge improvement. However, that wouldn't be a good player, and even you implied that.

    I meant ET.

Break down the rotation into minutes by position, I'm curious. I feel like people don't realize how little minutes there are for a 12 player rotation, which they think will happen.

I don't think it happens past December but early on I do....I think it trims down to 9 after the allstar break and as I said earlier...not including garbage time, foul trouble in Collins case, etc...I think Collins will have trouble staying out of foul trouble if he subs for Nurk at the 5

Crabbe was a starter and at times a first or second option...Stauskas hasn't had that role at all....I think it's too early to tell what he'll do under Stotts but I'll predict he'll have a career year in Portland if he cracks the rotation

well there's also that option....he has guys to beat to get minutes at his position, that's for sure. I think only Curry will be a lock for one of the 3 spots from last year

Even Ed Davis thrived here...he's not much older than Dame and he's on his fifth team...Mo didn't even play in Orlando...Bazz didn't play either nor did Baldwin...my point is guys come here and build value and increase their game..Stauskas could easily do the same...I'm not saying he will but I wouldn't throw him under the bus yet....people hated Pat Connaughton...everybody said he should go play baseball...he earned rotation minutes though

Always laugh a bit when people post players highlight videos. You give me 5 minutes and I can make Evan Turner look like Scottie Pippen,

buzzkill! so you've got 5 minutes...show me how you make Stauskas look like Jimmy Butler then...go ahead and take 10 minutes if you need....you posted highlights of a high school football team if I remember...boom! If I had access to film like you probably do I'd fill this place with some buzz generating clips to get ready for the season....the Wade Baldwin clip Rasta posted was awesome...the dude frustrated James Harden ...it doesn't get better than frustrating James Harden!

They'll experiment for sure, in just talking about the rotation I think they'll settle on. Of course other players will play situationally, I'm just talking about their normal rotation. A lot of people seem to be saying that they'll settle for a normal rotation with 10-12 players in it. 9 is reasonable.

All those players were much better than Stauskas before the got here. Shabazz was as efficient as Stauskas, and could handle the ball and make plays and was also a better defender. Moenhad a solid year before getting here and his size+athleticism always gave him a higher season than others. Davis was terrific before he got here too, we didn't really turn him into something he wasn't before.

You say Moe and Bazz didn't play much... exactly. Pat didn't either. Their struggles were over a sample size amd they still needed NBA experience to adapt. Meanwhile, Stauskas has consistently played and reapetedly struggled. More likely to be indicitive of a player the larger the sample is. It's a completely different narrative for Stauskas.

Trent is already better than him.
