Seem's imho, this team is not only playing "not to loose", they're also resting on their laurels from the hot streak earlier in the season....

Why, it all begins at the top, moreso with the Illustrious clubhouse/dugout Mgr. I don't see any true Leader in Boone, or one who's going to pick the others up, and set the bar/pace for other teammates to follow.
No Derek Jeter, no Donnie BB, et al.
Judge will in due time become that person. Unlikely we will ever see Aaron as a Capt (being an OF'r), maybe not maybe so in due time.

Until then, the team imo is lacking leadership across the board....
perhaps this sheds some light on what's going on behind closed doors??
"Don't sweat it"? really, it's time to start sweating, change the mentality and show some hunger...

    Your Thoughts??? anyone...???

My final post on the Yankees Twins thread dealt with Robertsons comments. I said then and I say now the man is either a liar or thinks the fans are dumb enough to follow that line. Don't tell me you pitch for a team and do not know where it stands. That is about a bad as Texerias "Bump in the Road" comment back in '15 after being swept by the Jays. What makes it even morw infuriating is that Robertson had his ass handed to him for failing to do his job. Sonny Gray stated after his loss that everything was fine, we're all in good spirits. We know that Boone is no leader, CC & Gardner are the long guys, the last '09 Regulars, can't say that they are showing any leadership. Don't know how much of that Gray/Robertson piss poor "I didn't know that" is rampant on that team but I'd guess that there are problems.

I’ve been on Trashman & BaBoone’s case most of the year. Hiring Boone from the onset, I thought aloud,
was a mistake. His(Boone’s) docile palsy-walsy approach was too timid for any Yankee manager. And for
Trashman to hire this guy says so much about this GM. He is the one who’s controlling every facet of this team.
And he, as sure as hell is aflames, has skewed, tampered, & screwed with a pitching staff that has problems not
making this a legit contender......regardless, it may reach 100 victories. This team has not played to its full
potential. When injuries hit, it was Trashman who put minor leaguers into the Yankee lineup. When he saw
this was not working, he then makes fill gap trades which shortened all around depth on the club. What he has
been doing is plugging one hole in the ship which creates another hole.
With this team all the answers are not in the big picture, all questions can be answered in the details.
For example, take Giancarlo Stanton who has hit 33 HRs and is batting .263 but has 196 SO. Many people
thought getting Stanton would put this team over the top. Those people know nothing about baseball.
That trade was pure hype....on Yankee management’s part. It is pitching that takes any team to the big dance.
There is a severe lack of leadership on this team. It will never come from the manager. The veterans are not
strong personalities. One or some of the kids on this team will show leadership characteristics down the road.
So, what happens this year? On the surface this team is a winner. The layers underneath are showing the
team’s weaknesses which oddly enough have been surfacing as the season winds down. Not a good sign for
    any post season heroics.

“We got plenty of time”. Oh boy. From a pitcher who just got clocked by a young, developmental Twins team......
whose manager basically was playing a minor league lineup except for Joe Mauer.
With an attitude like this, it is a wonder that this guy is still wearing a Yankee uniform for a second time!

I was not happy with Robertson returning last season. Evasive body language and mealy moth comments IMO are indicative of one who doesn't give shit. Communicator Boner would probably defend Robertson by saying he'll be all the more stronger for the remainder of the season. I don't know what Cashman sees but whenever I saw Boner on ESPN Games he seemed to be a Boston shill. Then the Yankees hire him, what a classic error. Yankees got more leadership from Matt Holiday and Cheerleader Todd Father than from Gardner & CC. There is some really shaky shit going on with this team that has not come out yet.
