Francois helps Florida State escape with win over Samford

Florida State paid Samford $500,000 looking for a guaranteed win. The Seminoles got a victory -- but quite the run for their money.

Deondre Francois threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning score to Tre' McKitty with 4:03 to go, as Florida State held off Samford 36-26 on Saturday.

Brown throws 5 TDs, BC beats Wake Forest, 41-34

Anthony Brown kept beating Wake Forest's defensive backs with long throws. That helped Boston College beat the Demon Deacons -- and Hurricane Florence.

Brown threw two of his career-high five touchdown passes to Jeff Smith, and BC defeated Wake Forest 41-34 on Thursday night in a game that started two hours early with the hurricane approaching.

No. 2 Clemson's plays amid storm for 38-7 win vs Ga Southern

A week of worry at No. 2 Clemson over a powerhouse storm ended in victory in front of a supportive full house at Memorial Stadium.

The Tigers (3-0) got a career-best 162 yards rushing and two touchdowns from Travis Etienne to defeat Georgia Southern 38-7 on Saturday, capping an unusual week for Clemson -- the only major college team in the Carolinas and Virginia that did not call off its game because of Florence.

Syracuse beats Florida State 30-7 behind DeVito

Syracuse took another big step toward putting the woeful recent past in the rearview mirror.

Quarterback Tommy DeVito, subbing for injured starter Eric Dungey, scored on a 3-yard run and hit tight end Ravian Pierce with a 3-yard score in a span of just over 3 minutes in the third quarter, and Syracuse beat Florida State 30-7 on Saturday in the sweltering heat of the Carrier Dome.

N'Kosi Perry sparks No. 21 Miami past FIU, 31-17

Miami coach Mark Richt's decision to send quarterback N'Kosi Perry into the game on the Hurricanes' third possession Saturday was easy.

His next decision might be tougher.

Perry came off the bench to throw for 224 yards and three touchdowns, plus completed his first 10 throws as No. 21 Miami beat FIU 31-17 on Saturday. He finished 17 for 25, led touchdown drives on his first two possessions after relieving starter Malik Rosier, and now Miami (3-1) has a choice to make about who starts going forward.

Lawrence throws 4 TDs, No. 3 Clemson routs Ga Tech 49-21

With plenty of family and friends cheering him on at his first college road game, Trevor Lawrence certainly played like a starting quarterback.

Now, the Clemson Tigers have to decide if it's time to push the talented freshman to the top of the depth chart.

Lawrence claimed a leading role in Clemson's quarterback rotation, coming off the bench to throw four touchdown passes as the No. 3 Tigers romped past Georgia Tech 49-21 on Saturday.

Dungey scores 3 times, Syracuse beats UConn 51-21

Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey's mantra is to annihilate opponents, and so far the senior is doing a pretty good job of it.

Dungey rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns, passed for 286 yards and two more scores without a turnover, and Syracuse beat former Big East foe Connecticut 51-21 on Saturday to continue its early season surge.

Francois throws 2 TD passes as Seminoles hold off NIU 37-19

Florida State has been seeking improvement on offense after managing just 10 combined points in its two FBS losses. The Seminoles found some reasons to be optimistic for a turnaround on Saturday.

Deondre Francois threw for a season-high 352 yards and two touchdown passes as Florida State used an efficient first-half offense en route to a 37-19 win over Northern Illinois.

Clemson QB Kelly Bryant to Transfer After Being Replaced by Trevor Lawrence

Clemson Tigers quarterback Kelly Bryant will transfer after losing the starting job over the weekend, according to Manie Robinson of the Greenville News.

"I feel like it's what's best for me and my future," Bryant told the Greenville News. "I was just going to control what I could control and try to make the most of my opportunity, but at the end of the day, I just don't feel like I've gotten a fair shot."

Etienne rallies No. 3 Clemson to 27-23 win over Orange

Should No. 3 Clemson fulfill its championship aspirations this season, prepare to hear plenty about "The Drive."

With new starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence knocked out of the game, reserve Chase Brice -- who was about sixth on the depth chart last January -- guided a 94-yard, fourth-quarter scoring drive that ended with Travis Etienne's 2-yard touchdown run with 41 seconds and gave the Tigers a 27-23 victory against Syracuse on Saturday.

Georgia Tech rushes for 372 yards, tops Bowling Green, 56-17

There were all kinds of moving parts Saturday in Bobby Dodd Stadium, where Georgia Tech rushed for touchdowns the first seven times it had the ball, yet the Yellow Jackets didn't so much surprise Bowling Green in a 63-17 win as they ran circles around the Falcons.

Dortch has 4 TD catches; Wake Forest routs Rice 56-24

The last few weeks were trying times for Wake Forest's defense. They allowed 41 points in a loss to Boston College. They yielded 56 in another defeat at the hands of Notre Dame. They watched their coordinator lose his job.

On Saturday, players and coaches alike said they got back to having fun. It showed. The Demon Deacons scored two defensive touchdowns for the first time since 2008 and cruised to a 56-24 win over Rice.
