He is. But he didn't get drafted for a reason. Maybe he's fixed his red flags.

New could be another Thomas Robinson. I like his game though.

Payton is intriguing from a physical standpoint, he really is built like the ideal point guard. I don’t think he will stick though. He’s got more issues than just shooting. He’s just not a very good floor General.

As for Briscoe, he’s in Orlando and got a $6m deal, although most of that isn’t guaranteed. I was a big supporter last year so I kind of kept track of him in Europe. He’s improved his shooting and still scored pretty much at will near the rim.

Haven’t really watched Chinanu so wont comment on him.

I like the versatility Oliver theoretically offers. He’s not a very good free throw shooter but I still think he could develop into a decent outside shooter. He’s a good rebounder, especially offensively. That’s something we’ll miss without Ed. He’s very athletic and can guard multiple spots. I like what I’ve seen from him in pick and roll situations as well. I guess it’ll just come down to who else Portland signs. Can’t really make a judgment until then, but he’s got a better shot to stick than Payton imo.

He should've been drafted. I was saying that at the time.

After watching the video above, I think I Like Onuaku, or Oliver.
Onuaku to me could possibly help add some depth to center of injuries occur. I really like his passing for a big. Also the free throw shot, I have to admit, I think it’s great he changed from something not working to that.

Thought he looked pretty good in summer league this year. I think he’d fit well next to Collins and doesn’t really need the ball in his hands to make an impact.

Yup. He looks comfortable in doing many different things on the court. Compare that to someone like Vonleh, who always looks uncomfortable. I would've rather had Oliver or Onuaku than Stauskas and then signed the other to a two-way contract leaving one open for the fall roster cuts.

Oliver would be great if it wasn’t his basketball IQ of 2. Otherwise he’s perfect. Agree that Onuaku has a better chance of sticking.

GP2 looked good, but still won't make the roster with the guards ahead of him. As a Beav, I'm forever grateful to him for getting us back to the Dance.

Payton looked like Evan Turner. He plays defense with physical aggression like a veteran, but avoids taking long shots. He seemed taller than his listed 6-3, but maybe it was an illusion caused by dogging opponents well.

I do love the idea that our team's third-highest-paid player's role and impact can be adequately replicated by a non-guaranteed training camp invitee... <sigh>

Oliver and Onannokuku play inhibited. Payton was loose as a goose, full of (unearned, but it's good) veteran confidence.

(I watched his father his whole Sonic career. He was overrated as a League Star. Jason Kidd was better and he was no League Star either.)

Payton finishes well. That's about it. He can't shoot to save his life. Would we run more if he was on the roster? If not, he'd be wasted here.

If we kept Payton would his dad be around the team more? I'd love to have GP chatting with Dame on a regular basis.

Trying to figure out how Oliver did so well in college, but is invisible now. Watched the end of the game, don't remember seeing him do anything. I know it was only a couple of minutes, but...
