No, ownership created the toxic environment by maxing Two players who don't work hard, and lowballing the guy they wanted to mentor them.

Wiggins contract should've been very Nurk like.

Where is this narrative coming from? Wiggins was absolutely worth the max when he got his deal-- he regressed immediately after signing it.

In the Wolves defense, I believe they offered him the max allowable for an extension but it's one of those stupid situations that the NBA needs to fix that he can sign for more than the extension if he just waits until free agency. This is the same thing that happened with Aldridge and why he ended up leaving instead of signing an extension the summer before.

If just looking at basic stats you could probably say that but a deep dive into some advanced stats might suggest otherwise. The year before signing the extension he had averaged 23.6 points per game but had a usage rate of 29.0 while taking 19.1 shots per game. Combine that with very low assist %, rebound %, and poor defense and you can probably make a case against it. They probably felt kind of forced to give him the max though.

A 21 yr old wing in the summer of 2016 averaging 23 ppg with the kind of hype he had as a defensive player gets a max contract from every team. Sure they should have waited a year like they could have and let him get to RFA, but most teams would have done what they did.

TBH, I still think he'd thrive in the right environment. He looked like he was about to break out into a two way star that year before Jimmy came in.

His ass can stay in Minnesota.

The only player you trade for on that team is Butler and even then, don't overpay for what could turn out to be a 60 game rental.

I had wiggins on my fantasy team that year and I fucking hated him. His FG% was trash all the time. So inconsistent. I've never liked him as a player.

It's REALLY hard to score as much as he did and contribute so little else. As measured by PER, here are all the players who scored => 23 PTS/G with a lower PER that Wiggins that season:

For that one particular season, yes. He was never a very efficient scorer or well rounded player, but he kind of out did (under did?) himself that year.

His value is on the rise! lol
So I could see a Boston, Miami, Lakers Houston, (maybe us) and others eventually start to outbid one another soon with understanding that they would have a good shot to re-sign him to a max.
Both he and Thibs know its the way it works best for both of them.

Yep, terrible teammate. Wouldn't want someone like that here...

Maybe's he's just got his faves, and Tyus is one of them. Perhaps he actually puts in a Butler-approved effort level, and is therefore worthy of his acceptance. Who knows? :dunno:

Fuck it, bring him in. We are ballin right now and just prolly one piece away from have a chance at getting to the WCF. West is wide open so far this year. Can we get him without giving up CJ/Zach/Dame?

Well, Turner basically matches salary...but the crazy thing is, with the way Turner is running the second unit, I'm hesitant to mess with that. I'd honestly rather trade CJ than Turner/picks.

Jimmy can start, sub out early, and take over as that lead guard on the 2nd unit too.
