I don’t think it’s a scam. They just don’t have the money they need.

why would Barrett and Wilson jeopardize their reputations?
That site was probably not as good as other options that are available.

A good number of expansion team startups fly by the seat of their pants. Hell. You've got to start somewhere. The N.F.L man though. $$$$$$$ before they will even show you to the entrance door. When Carolina/Jacksonville joined I couldn't believe how high the expansion fee was. Today it would be ridiculous.

What exactly does this mean? The way I read it....it was going to be too much of a headache to deal with the political bullshit. Best to find a different location

"We believe the PPS site was not the right place for a baseball stadium given the opportunities it offers to help create a new and diverse neighborhood,” Albina Vision Trust board member Gregg Kantor said in a release. “So we are pleased with their decision and believe it is the right one for our community.”

Albina Vision plans to honor the neighborhood’s past by transforming what exists on the property into a socially and economically inclusive community of residents, businesses, artists, makers, and visitors.

You would be amazed at how much and how many people are working on this. The logistics involved is immense. Just taking the things we are working on is a full time job for 4 people and they have been on it for months with no end in sight. People have absolutely no idea.
And no it is not just a real estate hoax.

Or maybe it's about getting yard and construction area as well as transportation and event parking? Then having the right people in place after an election to continue with issues at hand?

Honestly i don't. But one of the companies i work for have been doing the numbers on what it would take to build the stadium at various sites. The thing is enough people i know that would not be involved in a hoax are actually giving it evaluation time. Things like Tonnage of Iron involved for transport and manpower to take on an endeavor like this. My union has been bringing on beginning Pre-Apprentice workers in case we need them in the next 2-3 years. The NW site had some advantages with rail that the Clackamas site didn't have. Then there are other questions. Would people consider a westside option like Hillsboro? How do you fabricate and transport for that area? Intel was a total nightmare.

I know it won't happen but it would really be amazing if it was in Hillsboro! I'd probably get season tickets if it was.

It could. But Fought is way too busy to fabricate it in Tigard. So like i said. Getting the material there would take a bunch of work. Maybe even starting and building a fab shop first? Fought has the Airport under contract and they are swamped for 2-3 years. Tri-lett is busy with U of O. Newberg Steel could expand and do it? But that takes a contract. The rest are maybe Vigor Fab and maybe a couple in Vancouver but those are a lot more Marine oriented.

Any location outside of downtown is a big letdown.

Truthfully, I think it meant that PPS wanted more money for it than the PDP wanted to spend.

    Of course. Read the statement.
"Our core mission remains focused on providing all of our students in Portland Public Schools with an excellent educational experience. Our centrally located headquarters is a highly attractive site for potential future development, and we will continue to evaluate any future opportunities that support our school system’s goals and better serves our community."
    They want too much money.
On to Terminal Two or Clack.

Sounds like a negotiation. PDP offers X. PPS counters with Y. When they don't agree on terms, PDP says thanks anyway, can get a better deal somewhere else. That's one reason they started the whole process looking at multiple sites. It's good to have options. I'm sure they left the door open for PPS to come down more, and PDP to sweeten the deal. It ain't over until Roseanne sings the national anthem.

What PDP needs to do is find another suitable site for PPS, take an option on it, and offer to include a land swap in the deal.
