No. 21 UCLA routs Fort Wayne 96-71 to open 100th season

Throw it to Mo and watch him work.

That could be UCLA's strategy in a nutshell this season with 7-foot-1 Moses Brown patrolling the paint.

The freshman from Queens, New York, had a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds in his collegiate debut and the 21st-ranked Bruins routed Fort Wayne 96-71 on Tuesday night to open their 100th season of basketball.

Dickerson lifts No. 25 Washington past W. Kentucky 73-55

Washington coach Mike Hopkins described it as being in the "sandpit." The Huskies were at home, ranked to start the season for the first time in seven years, facing expectations and the anticipation of what they actually looked like.

And they immediately proceeded to play an ugly, inconsistent first half and face a nine-point deficit.

"Down nine at home, pressure is on, everyone wants to see the team," Hopkins said. "And these guys showed a lot of poise, a lot of resiliency. They stayed together."

Noah Dickerson scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half, Jaylen Nowell added 17, and No. 25 Washington rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to beat Western Kentucky 73-55 on Tuesday night.

Moses leads No. 21 UCLA to 95-58 rout of Saint Francis (PA)

It was a tale of two halves for No. 20 UCLA. Moses Brown was dominant in both.

The 7-foot-1 freshman had 23 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks to help the Bruins pull away from Saint Francis of Pennsylvania for a 95-58 victory on Friday night.

Arizona St, Utah St advance to MGM Main Event title game

As a freshman, Arizona State's Kimani Lawrence made three 3-pointers.

Monday night, the sophomore drained three from long range -- part of a 22-point performance -- including the game winner with 33 seconds, to lead the Sun Devils to a 72-67 victory over No. 15 Mississippi State in the heavyweight bracket of the MGM Main Event.

Bol Bol leads No. 21 Oregon to 83-72 win over Green Bay

The stat sheet doesn't lie, and Oregon coach Dana Altman didn't mince words while ticking off the unsatisfactory numbers even after his team won.

"Our focus, our attention to detail, I didn't think was very good," he said, "and that shows in the percentages, especially in the second half.

"I hope guys will put pressure on themselves so that we can get better after a win."

Bol Bol had 21 points and nine rebounds, Payton Pritchard added 18 points and No. 21 Oregon held off Green Bay 83-72 on Tuesday night.

No. 18 Arizona State knocks off top-ranked Kansas 80-76

Zylan Cheatham bounded down the hallway inside Wells Fargo Arena, half skipping, half jumping as he high-fived family, friends, anyone he could reach.

"Let's go! Let's go! Let's gooooo!" the Arizona State forward shouted.

Let it be heard: the Sun Devils have arrived.

Poised down the stretch after trailing most of the night, No. 18 Arizona State pulled off one of the biggest victories in school history by knocking off No. 1 Kansas 80-76 on Saturday.

UCLA fires Steve Alford after woeful start to season

UCLA has fired coach Steve Alford, the school announced Monday.

Alford was in charge of the Bruins for 5½ seasons, leading them to four NCAA tournaments and three Sweet 16 appearances. This season, however, UCLA struggled mightily in nonconference play; the Bruins are 7-6 after losing their past four games. Things hit rock bottom on Saturday, when UCLA lost at home by 15 points to Liberty.

Nowell, No. 25 Washington hold off Stanford 62-61

Mike Hopkins decided not to show his Washington players any video from their ugly loss at California that began a tough Bay Area trip. No need -- everybody knew.

"Sometimes you've just got to survive and advance, forget it and have a short-term memory," Hopkins said, "crumble the paper and throw it away and it never happened."

    The Huskies responded.

Jaylen Nowell scored 13 points but missed the front end of a 1-and-1 during a nervous finish for No. 25 Washington, which still held off Stanford 62-61 on Sunday for a weekend road split.

Arizona State beats St. John's 74-65 in First Four

A freshman guard overcame a frightful fall and helped Bobby Hurley -- a two-time champion guard at Duke -- get his first NCAA Tournament win as a coach.

Luguentz Dort shook off knee and hip injuries from a hard fall, scored 21 points and led the Sun Devils to a long-awaited NCAA Tournament victory Wednesday night, 74-65 over St. John's in the First Four.

Oregon extends March run with 72-54 win over Wisconsin

    - Oregon was stumbling toward the end of a disappointing season until a strong turnaround led the Ducks to the Pac-12 title and an NCAA Tournament bid.

Oregon is not looking to slow down any time soon.

Payton Pritchard scored 19 points, Kenny Wooten protected the rim with four blocks and 12th-seeded Oregon extended its surprising March run by beating No. 5 seed Wisconsin 72-54 Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Oregon beats UC Irvine 73-54 to advance to Sweet 16

Ehab Amin started the second half by cheering on his Oregon teammates from the bench during a scoring drought that seemed like it would never end.

When the fifth-year senior got into the game, he provided a jolt of energy that carried Oregon to the Sweet 16.

Amin's 3-pointer ended a run of 14 straight points for UC Irvine and provided the pivotal spark that helped the Ducks became the lone double-digit seed to advance to next weekend by beating UC Irvine 73-54 on Sunday night.

Pritchard lifts No. 15 Oregon over Fresno State 71-57

Oregon's roster is almost completely made over from last season's Sweet 16 team.

As the No. 15 Ducks' most experienced player, Payton Pritchard stepped up Tuesday night. He had 24 points with seven rebounds and seven assists in a 71-57 victory over Fresno State in the season opener for both teams. It was his 110th consecutive start.

No. 21 Arizona rolls over Northern Arizona 91-52

Five-star prospects Nico Mannion and Josh Green headlined Sean Miller's latest recruiting class and for good reason. Both are smooth, athletic, don't play like freshman.

Zeke Nnaji proved he's got some game, too.

Touted by Miller as Arizona's best post player during preseason camp, Nnaji lived up to the billing in his college debut, scoring 20 points to lead the 21st-ranked Wildcats to a 91-52 rout over Northern Arizona on Wednesday night.
