So, what's the point then? Are we lucky, or not? Does everyone else in the West have fewer than 3 lucky wins? More than 3 lucky wins? Exactly 3 lucky wins? You're isolated data point is useless without context.

Yep, that was my point last season when all this nonsense started and it remains my point. Tracking our "lucky" win in isolation is meaningless and tells us nothing of value. The one article I saw that summarized it all last year basically showed that all the teams were we compering with for the 3 - 9 spots had between 7 and 9 "lucky" wins. POR was right smack in the middle with 8. Given that Butler, Harden and Davis have all missed multiple games, I suspect it will all even out over the course of an 82-game season, just like it did last year.

But that doesn't fit the POR is lucky narrative. So, let's ONLY keep track of our lucky wins so we can thank our lucky stars for how lucky we are.

Doesn't matter to me if they win lucky, win ugly, win big, win small, win going away, limp to the win, win wild, win in OT, win in double OT, win on the road, win at home, win when i watch, win when i can't watch, win when it's raining, win when it's snowing, win when Leonard plays, win against former Blazers, OR WIN WHEN THE OTHER TEAM HAS AN INJURED PLAYER.

Just as long as they win.

Believe it or not, whether or not the isolated data point is of use to you is kind of irrelevant.

There are some posters who are interested in looking at and considering this aspect of the team's performance. Why does it bother you so much?

I didn't read this thread, but I think we need an "Official other teams' injuries vs other teams thread".

I'm not going to make it though. Don't have time for that. Or principle. Or interest.

So wait? Portland has been without their starting SF pretty much all season. That has to account for something also right?

Yes his statement that disputes nothing that anybody in this thread has said is completely accurate. No argument here.

You think that's what they're doing?

I believe it to be nothing but ragging on our team to say negative things about our success. Frankly.

Nope. Only applies to other teams. And only when they play the Blazers.

I was thinking just star players.

For Portland that's Dame, CJ and maybe Nurk.

An opinion to which you're welcome. I generally prefer to assume the best about people's motives. For instance, this post right here makes perfect sense, and isn't negative or "ragging on the team" at all.

Just a personal hot button. I got so tired of hearing how lucky the Blazers were last year when the same stars that were missing games against us were also missing games against the rest of the West.

Especially after I saw the data that proved it was bullshit. As I'd been preaching all along, when it came to facing other teams missing their best player(s), we were no more, or less, lucky that any of the other teams were we fighting against for playoff seeding.
