[IMG]The Warriors fall to 23-13 (.639) overall and 15-5 (.750) at home... Golden State is 11-3 (.786) versus the Western Conference at home this season and 13-9 (.591) overall… The Warriors record in games decided in overtime stands at 0-3.

[IMG]Tonight’s loss snapped the Warriors’ eight-game home winning streak over the Trail Blazers…The last time Golden State lost at home to Portland was November 23, 2013 (101-113)… The Warriors and Trail Blazers’ season series now stands at 1-1.

[IMG]The Warriors are 7-5 in games following a loss this season… Golden State has lost consecutive games five times… Dating back to 2014-15 the Warriors own a record of 57-17 (.770) in games following a loss, the best such record in the NBA and have lost consecutive games in the same season 17 times.

[IMG]Golden State owns a record of 15-5 (.750) in contests which Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson all play this season.

[IMG]The Warriors shot a season-low 40.0 percent (6-15) from the free throw line (previous: 66.7 percent versus Oklahoma City on November 21)… The last time Golden State made 40.0 percent-or-worse (min. 15 FTA’s) from the line occurred on March 2, 2007 at New York (6-15 FT).

[IMG]With 36 assists, the Warriors suffered their second loss of the season when dishing out 30-plus assists in a game (9-2 record when doing so).

[IMG]Golden State held Portland to an opponent-season low 36.2 percent from the field, marking the first time the Warriors have held their opponent under 40.0 percent shooting from the field and lost since November 16, 2017 at Boston (32.9 percent).

[IMG]The Warriors recorded 59 rebounds to the Trail Blazers’ 54, marking their fourth loss of the season when outrebound their opponent (19-4 record when doing so).

[IMG]With tonight’s sellout crowd of Oracle Arena (19,596), the Warriors have extended their streak of consecutive sellouts to 311, the franchise’s all-time best streak, a stretch that includes the Warriors’ NBA-record 54-straight regular season home wins… Golden State’s previous-long sellout streak occurred March 9, 1989 to April 19, 1996 (310)… The 311-game streak marks the fourth longest active-sellout streak in the NBA.

[IMG]Golden State’s next game is Saturday, December 29 at Portland.

[IMG]Kevin Durant recorded his second triple-double of the season (fifth as a member of the Warriors; 12th career), posting 26 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists… He has recorded 20-plus points in 23 of the last 24 games, including the last nine consecutively.

[IMG]Stephen Curry led all scorers with 29 points, adding five rebounds, seven assists with two steals and two blocks in 42 minutes.

[IMG]Draymond Green posted his fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and a team-high 11 rebounds along with seven assists.

[IMG]Kevon Looney posted eight points and 10 rebounds, his third outing of 10-plus rebounds this season.

    WARRIORS HEAD COACH STEVE KERR

    ON DEMARCUS COUSINS’ WORKOUT YESTERDAY:

“It went fine, but the curtain was down for a reason.”

ON IF HE THINKS THEY CAN PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP STYLE DEFENSE THE ENTIRE SEASON:

“We did not do it last year. I think we did for about 65 games. I think through 65 games or so we were maybe fourth in defensive efficiency in the NBA and then we sort of fell off a cliff the last 17 games. Fortunately, we were able to turn it on and we were by far the best defensive team amongst all the playoff teams and that was over a long stretch, but that was last year. What I would like to see is more consistency. I’m not under the illusion that our guys are going to be as gung-ho as they were three or four years ago. I understand the balance and understand what we are facing in terms of the number of games, the wear and tear, the grind and all that stuff. I do think we can be more consistent with our habits and we can be a better defensive team than what we have shown.”

ON THE ORACLE ARENA SELLOUT STREAK:

“Not all of those 311 games have come during this great stretch we have been on. I just remember coming into this building many times as a player when the Warriors were not very good and the fans were great then. We are lucky to play in front of these fans here in the Bay Area – they love basketball. There is an energy in this building that has existed ever since I have come here. First time I ever came here was in 1988 in my rookie year and that same energy was palpable then. What we are seeing now is a perfect storm of great, great basketball fans being given over the last five or six years a really good product and the result is 311 straight sellouts. It’s something we are really proud of as an organization and really thankful for as players and coaches. Just thankful for the fans for their constant support. It’s a huge help night in and night out playing on our home floor and giving us an advantage.”

    ON DEFENDING THE THREE:

“I am looking at that and to be honest we are not defending it that poorly. Obviously the shooting percentage is down. We are giving up fewer threes, but we are in the top-10 in giving up the fewest attempts since I have been here. I think we gave up nine in the month of December. It has dropped dramatically to 26 attempts per game. That is encouraging. The number of threes teams have made against us has dropped by almost one-and-a-half a game so teams are shooting a good percentage. I think that is going to work itself out, but for me we are number one in the league in contesting three -point shots. I think it’s a question of staying with it and understanding that we have been good defending the three in the past and it's going to come around.”

    ON JUSUF NURKIĆ:

“We need him to finish around the basket. We involve him a lot in pick-and-rolls. We don't post up a lot but he gets a lot of opportunity in the paint, whether it’s in pick-and-rolls, offensive rebounds or drop-off passes. He needs to be effective in that context and I think offensive rebounding is an area where he has been really important for us.”

    GOLDEN STATE QUOTES:

    WARRIORS HEAD COACH STEVE KERR

    ON TONIGHT’S GAME:

“It was a wild game and it was a strange game. I didn’t think we competed very well in the first half. I love the way we competed in the second half and if we play with that type of intensity and competiveness, for the whole game, then we are in business, but we have to put it together for 48 minutes.”

ON THE TURNOVER THAT LED TO PORTLAND TAKING THE LEAD ON OVERTIME:

“All I saw was Steph (Stephen Curry) trapped at half court and tried to pass over the top. I don’t know who made the deflection, but caught the ball in a little bit of a vulnerable position and, you know, it happens.”

ON SHOOTING 6-OF-15 FROM THE FREE THROW LINE:

“I think we are best free-throw shooting team in the league. Like I said, strange game. We are in a little bit of a strange run and we are going to get out of it, but when you aren’t quite right – different, strange things happen. The foul line stuff was kind of bizarre, but I’ve seen it before. It happens occasionally.

    ON THEIR HALF-COURT SET EXECUTION:

“First half execution was very poor. The second half it got better. Ball movement was fine. I didn’t think we were aggressive enough in the first half. It looked like we were kind just on our heels and didn’t play with any force or any purpose. The second half got better, but by that time we were in a dogfight and having to scrap. As I mentioned, we have to find a way to compete for the full 48 minutes right from the opening tip and leave anything else behind and just go play.”

    ON SHORTENING THE ROTATION TONIGHT:

“Those guys (Jonas Jerebko, Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston) generally are the three guys off the bench. Jordan Bell right now is just not in the rotation. He could get back in the rotation. The wild card is Alfonzo (McKinnie). I thought about going to him early, but they were pretty big out there, so we stayed with Jonas. It’s a rare game where we only play eight guys – we generally play nine or 10. This is just kind of the way the game went. If I had to do it over again, I would probably get Alfonzo out there a little bit more.”

ON WHY IT’S BEEN DIFFICULT TO FIND THE RIGHT INTENSITY FOR THE FULL GAME:

“I don’t know. I’m not being flippant or whatever you want to call it. It’s just sometimes you can’t put your finger on certain things and for whatever reason we just aren’t quite clicking and not quite together on all fronts. We got to get to that point. I think not winning and playing the way we have done for many years, I think our guys are a little disappointed in that and maybe that’s affecting them. That’s when you have to fight even harder. Like I said, in the second half we fought like crazy and if we do that we are in good shape.”

    WARRIORS GUARD STEPHEN CURRY

    ON THE OVERTIME:

“Considering we were down ten points, we gave ourselves a chance to win and in overtime we played pretty well. A couple of shots didn’t go down. We fought back in the second half to get back in the game. We just have to put together a 48 minute game and I know it came down from that one possession and I want that one back.”

    ON THE TEAM ADJUSTING:

“Tonight was better. Especially the second half just being aggressive and decisive. Everyone on the floor. But we are still not coming off our plays, setting good screens and opening spaces. Again just being aggressive and decisive and live with the results, that is the mentality we have to have across the board no matter who is out there on the floor.”

    ON THE COMEBACK:

“I think there was a little bit of everything, we made some big shots and were decisive with our passes and obviously made some threes. Andre (Iguodala) was huge with our offensive rebounds. Klay (Thompson) had a great defensive stop on the last possession regulation. We had stops and went on transition a little bit. The crowd got into it, it was a good vibe. We gave ourselves the win in overtime, we just threw it away.”

ON THE TEAM STRUGGLING IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON UNTIL NOW:

“A lot of different reasons. There were injuries, mixed lineups, and now we have close to a full squad. We are just trying to get our momentum back. I guess if it is not one thing it is another and tonight was kind of an offensive stagnant in the first half. There wasn’t a lot of energy and aggressiveness. Defensively we were okay after the first three or four minutes. The game has been a mix of indecisiveness in certain stretches of the game. Again we are giving teams their best shots so we have to fight our way through it. We have to find a way to get to that 48 minute level that we dominate teams with.”

    ON TONIGHT’S PERFORMANCE:

“There were tough calls down the stretch. They were already in the bonus, I think they had three or four possessions. They had their points. Obviously we are not going to shoot 40.0 percent from the line for the rest of the year. In terms of the team being aggressive. Tonight we had a lot of open shots, but that is how the game flows. It wasn’t necessarily getting to the free throw line that much but when we did we obviously didn’t convert. Seeing myself and other guys miss free throws, it happens. I am not going to let that take the juice away from what we are doing out there.”

    WARRIORS FORWARD KEVIN DURANT

ON THE BACK AND FORTH RUNS:

“They made some big shots throughout the whole game to kind of quiet our little runs, and I think we did the same to them. They just happened to make the last shot of the night.”

ON THE TEAM’S RUN TO TIE THE GAME:

“We just made shots. That was the thing for us. We knocked down shots when we needed.”

ON HOW THE MISSED FREE THROWS HURT THE TEAM:

“Definitely stings when you leave money out there on the floor. Unacceptable to miss that many free throws. We are pretty efficient at the line. I started us off missing two in a row and I think that kind of got to us a bit. I got to knock mine down and I think that will give everyone else confidence at the line.”

ON IF HE GOT A GOOD LOOK ON THE LAST SHOT IN OVERTIME :

“Yeah, it’s a shot I work on every day. I’m pissed I missed that one and I got to make that shot. I got to make it. Plain and simple.”

ON WHAT THE TEAM NEEDS TO DO TO PLAY MORE CONSISTENT:

“We just got to keep searching for good shots. I think we had a lot of good ones tonight that we missed. It’s difficult when we miss shots, especially wide open ones. It takes the energy out of the arena when we shoot a jump shot and the crowd is like ‘oohh’ and we miss and the crowd is like ‘aahh.’ We miss shots, that’s a part of basketball and I think we got to keep our heads up when we miss the good shots. We generate good shots and that’s what we want. When we get a wide open look for a three, we want that because down the line eventually we hit them. I don’t like how we got down on ourselves for missing shots. I thought our defense was really great tonight.”

ON LOSING THE GAME AFTER A SOLID DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE:

“That’s the name of the game. Damian Lillard is a Hall of Famer. If he gets a look down two on the road you know he is pulling, and he made a huge shot. Like I said, they just made the last shot of the night.”

    PORTLAND QUOTES:

TRAIL BLAZERS HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS

    OPENING STATEMENT:

“It was an amazing game, honestly. Neither team played that well, but I like the way we kept fighting. We had seven turnovers in the fourth quarter, three possessions to start the overtime with the turnovers and we still came back and found a way to win. I was really proud of the way we kept going. They didn’t shoot the ball well, we didn’t shoot the ball well. I thought both teams fought through it.”

    ON DAMIAN LILLARD:

“Dame-esque? I mean in a scramble situation you hope to get a good look. It was an amazing shot. It was tough, I haven’t seen the replay of it but it was well-timed. He likes playing against the Warriors, he likes coming to Oakland and to win it in that manner. It probably means a lot to him.”

    ON SETH CURRY:

“Seth came in when we needed it. With that group, he made some tough shots. I am sure playing against his brother meant a little something extra too. He got a little gassed, but he scored points when we needed points.”

MOVING INTO SECOND PLACE ON ALL-TIME TRAIL BLAZERS COACHING LIST BEHIND JACK RAMSAY AND PAST RICK ADELMAN:

“To be sandwiched between Jack (Ramsay) and Rick (Adelman), two coaches that I have always admired. Rick allowed the offensive plays that I believe in that I even took from him. I think both of those guys should be Hall of Fame coaches. I think Rick should be in the Hall of Fame at some point. I am very honored to be in that company.”

    ON JUSUF NURKIC:

“Nurkic carried us through that stretch. The way he finished on the block, he had a good matchup. He drew some double teams and made some nice passes, and we got some wide open shots. We haven’t been able to do that a lot, but being able to play through him like that was a real advantage for us against their small lineup.”

    PORTLAND GUARD SETH CURRY

    ON TONIGHT’S GAME:

“I mean it’s huge. We need all the wins we can get on the road. It gives us a lot of confidence coming into this environment and playing well against this team. A great team win. Everybody contributed and everybody had a part in this win.”

ON THEIR GAME PLAN PLAYING THE WARRIORS NEXT AT HOME:

“Stick to the game plan and play the same way. We can shoot the ball better as a team and we can play better overall. It was kind of sloppy at times, both ways, but we know they are going to play better next game and they won’t miss open shots, so we have to clean up things defensively and stick to it.”

ON THE WARRIORS GOING THROUGH A BIT OF A SLUMP:

“It happens to everybody. You go through a stretch where you miss shots and don’t play as well. Its 82 games – it’s a long season. You’re not going to play your best for the whole time. They have been through this before, so have we, so we aren’t feeling sorry for them. We have to beat them when we can.”

    TRAIL BLAZERS GUARD DAMIAN LILLARD

    ON THE HARD-FOUGHT WIN:

“I wouldn’t say neither team was playing well. I would say neither team was making shots. I think the game had a nice pace to it. On our offensive end we were getting some good looks and missing. They were getting some great looks and missing. It was a smooth game. It wasn’t pretty all of the time. They played hard defensively. We played hard defensively. They gave themselves a chance and it came down to who was going to make more plays. We got the deflection on the side out of bounds, came down and hit a shot. Then came down and got a stop. We made the plays to win the game down the stretch.”

    ON HIS GAME WINNING SHOT:

“We came up big after the side out of bounds. I just ran the court. I sprinted because I saw that we had numbers. Their whole team didn’t really see what happened. So they were in the back court. I sprinted ahead and I got it. Draymond Green was in front of me and it was two other defenders but I had him basically on one side of the court. I attacked him and I didn’t want to try to do a quick shot because he was kind of over my back and I didn’t want him to get the block and basically lose the game right there. I kept my dribble alive and I threw it back in. I thought that Chief (Al-Farouq Aminu) would move to the side. I almost turned it over but he chased it down. Once he did that I never stopped running. I ran to the three-point line and saw that Steph (Stephen Curry) and KD (Kevin Durant) both run towards me. I basically ran to the line to get ready to shoot the ball, I knew that they wouldn’t jump too hard at it because they wouldn’t want to foul me on a three. I just rose up, confident and knocked it down.”

    ON SETH CURRY’S PERFORMANCE:

“He was huge. On that stretch that is when we pushed our lead out. Not only was he scoring the ball, but we were getting some stops with it. He carried us right there for a second. I think that is when the momentum really started to come to our favor.”

ON HIS THOUGHTS TAKING THE LAST SHOT:

“I was like, I am shooting this ball. It was only a few seconds left and down two, it got to go up. Immediately after regulation I was like I missed the step back when we were up three. I lost the ball in the last couple of seconds. I was upset with myself. Everyone kept telling me to move on to the next play. I always convince myself that I am going to come up big at some point. CJ got it going a little bit. So I went off the ball and when the time came and I was in the same positon and I was able to knock that last one down.”

You don't think our coach having no defensive IQ is a problem? Or that his heralded offense is close to last in the league in Assists, you don't think that's an issue?
If at least some of your countless posts were basketball related, but my reaction to them is usually not "yawn", it's "Sigh"

Why can't Stotts ever say something nice about Nurk ? The guy was beasting yet he only points out the bad things. If the question was about Dame it would have been only praise.

Also WTF was that answer about defending the 3 ?? "I know our stats are shit but we're defending well don't worry don't worry" ???

I really didn't understand that about the 3 but I guess he not seeing like the rest of us when teams been blister us from the 3 line on year long. Last we was better running players off off the 3. But overall we been not good defending the 3 this year.

Is this the dumbest post of the year?

I constantly complain about those very things. I know words can be hard to read sometimes... I'd know, because Im just tired of seeing your posts. Yawn.
