It's really hard to know that though. I just think that while the Players opinion is valuable balancing it out with the coaches opinions would be ok enough for me. I think Fan voting is terrible though. Coaches and Players do have a different yet hands-on approach to the game.

The NBA All Star game can suck it. Until they announce one in Portland I’m done with it.

    I agree.

I just feel the players would even do a better job than the coaches.

Should one of the coaches who is coaching the game get to vote?

I'm kinda against that. I don't know, I just feel like they'd do the best job.

It won't happen but just about anything would be better than the fan vote, I could support all Players, all coaches, NBA scouting departments voting, heck just anything but this stupid popularity contest that determines if a guy gets his money from being an all-star. I guess I also don't want a media vote, too many voting members that don't even watch the games, it would be as bad as the fan votes.

While I don't agree with a lot of them, I can at least understand much of the early returns. But, where's the Derrick Rose love coming from?

I love the Derrick Rose story, he looked like he was never going to be anything again and has turned himself into a very valuable player for Minnesota this year, but having him that high on the all-star game list just so dumb...

Players and coaches would have him ahead of Rose, Westbrook & Thompson.

    So what.

There is nothing else where fans get to have any say at all in the NBA.

That's great as a "comeback player of the year" story, but an all-star starter?

If Rose and Doncic make it, it will be very hard for both Lillard and Westbrook to both make it.

Does Derrick Rose have a shoe contract in China?

There should be a "legacy" vote for each conference for a player over 35.

You constantly post about the all-star game, so you should know that fans only get 50% of the vote, correct?

Those guys aren't gonna make it.

Kobe was voted in as a starter his second year while averaging 15/3/3 on mediocre efficiency. Everyone accepted it. The funny thing is he came off the bench for all but one game that whole season for the Lakers.

On the one hand, they use the excuse that it's supposed to be an event for the fans, but then on the other hand All-Star selections are used when determining things like the Hall of Fame.

    Pick one.

Either it's an event for the fans, which to me diminishes its significance in a player's career portfolio. OR it's something that matters, like getting an All-NBA nod. It can't be both.

And the REALLY weird part is that it's supposed to be for the fans, so it should be the most exciting players in the league, but the coaches use it as some kind of fucking reward for winning teams. The Warriors shouldn't have 4 players on the fucking team. That (to me) goes against the spirit of what they keep telling us the event is about.

    So?

I'm a fan and I don't want us voting. Lots of fans in this very forum agree with me.

I think you're discounting that particular demographic of fan that agrees that fans shouldn't vote. That fan isn't a causal fan.

And thats a good thing. Fan is short for fanatic.

The fans votes are always suspect, but those early returns are effing unspooled.
