With the recent increase in scoring by Nurk to about 23+ PPG and the 15 point scoring by Meyers in the Nov 20 win over the Knicks, the opportunity is there for a 35+ point scoring production from the Center position.

This is a great game to continue the PNR, inside shooting, rebounding, play making, and good decisions that Nurk has excellently demonstrated in the last 12 games. And if the bench Blazers will execute 4 good catch and shoot assists to Meyers on the arc, he may again make 3 of them (as on Nov 20) and score 15+. And if he does, keep scoring swish3s as long as he is making at least 50%.

The increased role for Nurk adds importantly to the Blazer offense, and Meyers can add the swish3 scoring power (and screens, assists, and rebounds) that will increase Blazer PPG scoring and wins. The Knicks game provides a prime chance to get high productivity Center scoring optimized for the 54 win season that appears within reach.

I expected Nurk continue his hot play. More he does it more confident he is getting.

We should start a Game Thread for random thoughts for each individual game to go into. @SlyPokerDog is that something you could look into? Surprised we don’t already do that. #GimmeBackMyForum

Meyers should drop 50 tonight with no fewer than 9 swish3s.

I think Kanter will match up more with Meyers.

Vonleh might not score a single point against the Beast.

FSV, Meyers will dominate Kanter, and may well score 15 swish3 points today. Meyers scored 15 (not 50) points in the Nov 20 Knicks win. And today's Casey Holdahl column calls out Hardaway and Vonleh lesser scoring while ignoring Meyers 3 of 4 and 15 points in the Nov 20 game.

Meyers hasn't hit 5 three's in a game since New Years eve, 2015. over 3 years ago.

Yes, Strenuus, and Meyers hasn't had the 6 shots that he needs for a good chance. It is time for Meyers to take additional swish3 shots, and keep shooting if he is scoring at least 50%!

The outcome was 29 (20 from Nurk and 9 from Meyers) which is short of the 35+ points postulated here, but were still enough for the win. The bench played 22 min and scored 49 points and provided good defense most but not all of the time which maintained the lead for most of the 3rd and 4th Q, with the starters finishing the last 4:39 to save the 10 point lead and win 111 - 101.
Nurk led scoring with 20 points and 8 rebounds in 19 min, Dame and CJ each scored 17, Chief scored 8 with 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block in 33 min. Mo played only 9 min and did not score reporting knee problems.

This was a game of progress with some good passing that registered as 25 assists, with some notable cuts to the basket and dunks. While there were some lost opportunities with poorly chosen or executed passes, the bench team offense gained some new ground. Seth scored 13, Jake and Evan each scored 10, Meyers scored 9, and Zach scored 7. Jake also had 10 rebounds.

Despite a lot of progress that puts the Blazers on a track to win 54 games (65.85% at 27 wins 14 losses), and the fact that the 2nd half schedule is apparently easier than the 1st half, some of the posts in the game thread are unreasonably negative. In particular, some anti-fan comments do not recognize some excellent play by Meyers, Zach, Seth, CJ, and Chief. For example, instead of admiring Meyers emphatic dunk, one post expresses surprise that he did not miss! And comments that Meyers and Zach did not play defense when they bothered multiple shots by Kanter, Kornet, Herzonia, and Vonleh to limit Knicks scoring are incorrect. The refs allowed some pretty rough treatment of Nurk, Meyers, and Zach that were not called as fouls while making questionable foul calls against them. That football tackle of Meyers by Kanter that resulted in Meyers needing to leave the game was not even called a foul.

This game was a step on the way to showing that Nurk and Meyers can together provide a much enhanced Blazer Center position for the team that is progressing steadily to a 54+ win season. With further development, the Blazers may be on the way to the Western Conference Finals and I imagine the NBA Championship.

I’m not really informed on the situation with Orion bailey but I will say, part of the reason I hardly check this board any more is because most treads end up with people complaining that it should be in this thread or that thread. Who cares?
Isn’t this board for discussing specific topics? Someone gets injured in a game, does that have to ONLY be discussed in that game thread? People try way too hard to throw their weight and seniority around here. It’s quite pathetic really...

I also see people complain when posters put things up like trade rumors and they get responses like “why even post this garbage from this garbage writer”.

That even goes for articles by local writers. If you don’t like those guys, tough shit. You don’t need to complain about their articles being posted in here. This is a blazer message board that covers blazer related topics.
