Nope. Vets are sulking and aren't trying now. Get rid of them now Gorton.

I would hope by the Super Bowl he's at least made one trade.

Zucc owning up to his crap play today. I mean, he's a guy I would want them to trade and perhaps sign again to help the rebuild effort. I see no reason he couldn't be one of the vets on the team. Figure, Vesey is probably out. Namestnikov is out. McLeod is out. That's 3 spots open for next year right there. As usual, he would probably take less to sign here again.

Either way, they look like they have begun their drop to the top 5. That is good.

Agreed dump and gorton should be moving guys right now and maybe able to get a first from a borderline playoff team on the bubble trying to get in the playoffs instead of end of round pick. Need another 3 or 4 youngsters up here to get some game experience. Time to start dumping the mcquaids, McLeod, zucc, Hayes, shattenkirk, nemstikov and take another run at trying to convince hank on a trade to a contender as he has to know this team not going anywhere for the next year or so. Do t wait

I'd like to see some guys like Bigras and Meskanen get some time, and maybe Hajek later in the year. After the AS break is probably when the trades start kicking in.

It's just too bad this organization can never get that franchise changing offensive player. The friggin Pens go handed two of them.

Pionk really needs to work on his defense if he's going to last. Staal shouldn't be given a pass on that goal either.

Essentially, he's a rookie playing a ton of minutes. His struggles are not uncommon. That being said, we need a bigger, righty defenseman as our number 1 guy.

Agreed. This is probably the biggest need in the entire organization right now. You could have potentially hidden pre-injury Shatty on the right of the first pair if his partner was a true 1 dman (aka McDonagh). But McDonagh was declining, and Shatty's knee hasnt been healthy since his first training camp here. We need to make a Seth Jones - type trade and get a stud righty for our first pair. Or Gorton needs to sign a guy like he signed Chara. Id be fine going Shatty-Pionk as the 2nd and 3rd right side guys if we have a stud at the top playing (and supporting) Skjei.

    Skjei-Trade Target or FA
    Hajek - Shattenkirk
    Claesson-Pionk

That should be our D next year. McQuaid obviously gone at the deadline. Staal may have created a market for himself with his improved play this year if we retain. I'm not sure if you can get anyone to take Smith - keep him as the 7th or send him down, I dont care. Use DeAngelo as part of the trade to find our top guy to replace their right side depth. Will obviously take more than that but he could be a piece. He is redundant on our team. Pionk took his spot.

Parayko and Trouba are the guys I'd call about this offseason.

Agree Prod. I've been wanting trouba for awhile and we should be able to make something like that happen. He'd be the perfect fit here

Nice. Been waiting for that. Trouba is one of the most overrated players in the league. He's greedy also. I has started to sour a lot on Pionk lately. I think Lundkvist makes this team next year. DeAngelo sucks. Shows you how stupid the posters on hockeysfuture are on the Rangers board. They suck him off all the time.

    Strongly disagree on this.

Yes he's sliding but the whole defense is sliding. I'd argue Shattenkirk is the only guy who hasnt looked worse over the past month. I don't give up on Pionk yet, he's just been forcefed minutes he shouldnt be playing. He'd be great on the 3rd pair with 2nd PP time. Hes not a top pair dman. Maybe you can get away with him in the second pair if his partner is strong enough (aka not Marc Staal).

Agree Deangelo is not good, but I have no idea why you keep reading that place and complaining to us about them. If you think they are stupid stop reading them like I did years ago.

Pionk just needs to work on his defense, as it's as bad as his offense is good. The whole D corps basically needs an overhaul. Hopefully our top prospects turn out ok in 2-3y. I'm not even sure about Skjei going forward though he's been a little better since the new year.

I read that place Prodigy because I measure how the majority of our fan base is now becoming as fucking stupid as the Devils fan base.

I think Gorton has done a good job drafting so far, it's highly unlikely the Rangers finish bottom 3 where the phenoms lurk perhaps a trade can get them a top pick. I think the reason Gorton went so defense heavy in the draft is the obvious weakness of their defensive unit (4th in shots/game 33.6, 5th in GA/game 3.41, PK 26th 77.1%). More dead wood needs to be cleared out but a true rebuild starts by getting rid of Hank & Staal to free up free agent money and make way for the youth, Georgiev is cheaper and Lindgren on one skate is an upgrade over Marc. The biggest mystery to me is Shatt, I'm hoping he's been playing hurt and bigger things are coming so he can start earning that paycheck.

Pionk is averaging 22.42 min per game, tops on the Rangers by over a minute (Skjei 21.16), a lot to ask of a 23 year old player with 28 games experience coming into the season, he's fine. I was hoping for more from Skjei this year but he's also young with potential. I agree about Tony D not being good defensively mainly because he's too small though he seems to be a good RW candidate. I like McQuaid, he provides physical play the Rangers need. Smith & Claesson can go with Staal.

Honestly, i wouldn't call anyone on their D corps off-limits and i think Shattenkirk will likely be moved next year at the DL if not before the season. I think Smith gets bought out this summer if he can't be moved earlier. Staal has been decent this year and maybe they can eat salary on him in a deal for a 4th rounder or something. Hopefully McQuaid can fetch the same in another month. I saw that Calgary and Edmonton are already in on Zuccarello, as will be others I'm sure. Hayes being injured is a little worrisome but it sounds like he will be back after the break. He should bring back a 1st+.
