San Diego St. cruises past No. 22 Nevada, 90-73, into final

No matter how good San Diego State has been playing since mid-February, it was evident Friday night it has no intention of leaving its chances of making the NCAA Tournament to the selection committee.

Devin Watson scored 20 points to lead the Aztecs (21-10) to a 90-73 blowout victory over No. 22 Nevada on Friday night in the Mountain West Conference semifinals.

Seventh-seeded Nevada rallies, tops Texas 87-83 in overtime

Nevada's Caleb Martin had just missed a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer and didn't feel all that disappointed. The junior forward just knew his team would finish the job in overtime.

And then he helped make it happen.

Martin shot 3 of 3 from 3-point range in overtime and finished with 18 points Friday as Nevada rallied to beat Texas 87-83 for its first NCAA Tournament victory since 2007.

Comeback for the ages: Nevada edges Cincinnati 75-73

Nevada's Jordan Caroline sat in the Wolf Pack's locker room and shouted the three words that were being repeated in households across the country.

    "What just happened?!?"

Only a comeback that matched the second-largest in NCAA Tournament history.

Nevada rallied from 22 points down in the final 11 minutes Sunday to stun No. 2 seed Cincinnati 75-73 and earn its second Sweet 16 appearance ever. Josh Hall converted an offensive rebound with 9.1 seconds left to make the tiebreaking basket and give Nevada its only lead of the night.

No. 7 Nevada beats BYU 86-70

After an ankle injury last week, Nevada forward Jordan Caroline sat out a week of practices before playing in No. 7 Nevada's season opener.

"I was going to play no matter what," said Caroline, who tied a career high with 16 rebounds. "If I was in a cast, I was going to play."

Caroline led all players with 25 points as No. 7 Nevada beat Brigham Young 86-70 on Tuesday night.

Martin scores 22 points, No. 7 Nevada beats Pacific 83-61

Nevada coach Eric Musselman wanted to send a message about his team's 3-point shooting, especially against the zone defense.

"I think everybody is playing zone (when they play us)," Musselman said Friday night. "That's fine. I think our school record is 17 3s. I didn't know it until I grabbed the stat sheet. I would have told them to launch a few more with five minutes to go because we're two short from the record."

Caleb Martin scored all 22 of his points in the second half and No. 7 Nevada shot 48 percent from 3-point range in an 83-61 victory over Pacific.

No. 6 Nevada spears Cal Baptist Lancers, 90-55

Trey Porter thinks his adrenaline got the best of him during the first three games of the season.

"I'm a diabetic, so I got my blood sugar up a little bit," said Porter, who transferred to Nevada this season from Old Dominion. "It makes me kind of cranky. ... I was able to control my blood sugar (tonight). It definitely helped me out."

Porter scored 14 points, matching his season total coming into the game, and added nine rebounds as No. 6 Nevada beat California Baptist 90-55 on Monday night to give coach Eric Musselman a victory on his birthday.

No. 6 Nevada advances to Las Vegas Invitational game

Nevada passed its first challenge away from home this season thanks to Jordan Caroline and the Wolf Pack's free-throw shooting.

Caroline had 25 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 6 Nevada made 35 of 42 free throws to beat Tulsa 96-86 on Thursday in the third round of the Las Vegas Invitational.

Martin twins lead No. 5 Nevada over Loyola-Chicago 79-65

The maroon and gold Final Four banner hanging from the rafters gave Nevada just a little extra motivation. Not that the Wolf Pack really needed it.

Caleb Martin had 21 points, twin brother Cody Martin scored 20 and No. 5 Nevada beat Loyola-Chicago 79-65 on Tuesday night in a rematch of their NCAA Tournament game.

No. 5 Nevada dominates USC in 2nd half of 73-61 victory

Struggling offensively, Nevada went into halftime trailing by one in front of a partisan crowd. The Wolf Pack's seniors emerged with a different mindset.

"We just have to come out with that intensity, come out with that fire," Jordan Caroline said. "We got to play like we're behind. We got to go make a big run, and that's what we did."

Caroline scored 22 points and No. 5 Nevada took control with a dominant second half to beat Southern California 73-61 on Saturday and equal its 8-0 start from last season.

No. 6 Nevada rallies past No. 20 Arizona State 72-66

Sixth-ranked Nevada played what might be its only ranked opponent of the regular season. The Wolf Pack knew a win could help bolster their case come March.

Yet coach Eric Musselman couldn't believe how his team responded to start the game.

"Coach mentioned at halftime, `You finally meet some talent and this is how you react?" Caleb Martin said. "It kind of turned some guys up in the locker room."

Martin scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half, rallying the Wolf Pack past 20th-ranked Arizona State 72-66 Friday night in the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic tripleheader.

No. 6 Nevada rallies late to beat Grand Canyon 74-66

Nevada had a short turnaround against a scrappy team with a loud fan base, even in what was technically a neutral-site game. The Wolf Pack stumbled out of the gate, had a hard time finding enough of an offensive rhythm to pull away.

Relying on grit and experience, Nevada pulled out a game when it wasn't at its best -- a sure sign of a team that could make plenty of noise in March.

Jordan Caroline had 22 points and 14 rebounds, and No. 6 Nevada used a late run to finally shake Grand Canyon for a 74-66 victory Sunday in the Colangelo Classic.

Caroline, No. 7 Nevada rally again to beat South Dakota St.

Nevada coach Eric Musselman says he focuses on the stars.

"Some coaches have a philosophy that they're going to let the (opposing) stars score and they are going to shut everyone else down," Musselman said. "We don't hide the fact that our total focus is on the star players and we want the peripheral players to beat us."

That's exactly what No. 7 Nevada did in its 72-68 victory Saturday over South Dakota State and its duo of Mike Daum and David Jenkins.

No. 6 Nevada romps past Utah State 72-49 to remain unbeaten

The last time Nevada won its first 14 games in a season, the Wolf Pack played in the Far Western Conference and Harry S. Truman was president.

Jordan Caroline scored 15 points and No. 6 Nevada matched a school record set in 1951-52 by beating Utah State 72-49 on Wednesday night.

Martin's 27 points helps No. 10 Nevada beat Fresno State

Back at center for the first time since the Sweet 16 a year ago, Nevada's Jordan Caroline had a fairly easy time putting up his 10th double-double of the season while matching his career high for rebounds.

Caroline's come-from-behind steal and block in the second half were even bigger for the 10th-ranked Wolf Pack.

Caroline had 19 points and matched his career high with 16 rebounds, Caleb Martin scored 27 points, including two free throws with 54.6 seconds remaining, and Nevada held on to beat Fresno State 74-64 on Saturday night.
