I would be more than Happy to send them Hayes, Namestnikov and Pionk for that package. Then move Buchnevich and Fast to the Oilers for their first and either Yamamoto or Puljujarvi. Then this rebuild is under way. I think these deals are realistic.
Agree. The avs and rangers match up well with they the other needs and rangers scouts all over the avs. Seems pretty good bet something will happen between the 2.
My guess is he wants a package of Hayes and Fast and doesn't want to give up anything other than his first and some crap prospect.
If they just want Hayes i would want their 1st plus either their 2nd or the 3rd from Ottawa they have.
If the Rangers are making any moves to rebuild this team the guys heading out should be Hank, Staal, Zucc, Smith, Shatt. These 5 account for $31 mil of the $77mil salary cap. There are no untouchables on this team but I hate trading away younger players when they're undervalued I see Hayes as a pivotal piece of the Rangers future and the linked article even touts him as the top free agent available so if the Avs want him there's no need for Gorton to give away the farm, it's Hayes for pick/prospect or both prospects. Hayes is 6'5", 25 and on pace for his career best season adding to his value. If the Rangers do trade Kevin I hope they make an effort to resign him. Playing in NY is not easy and Hayes seems to have no issues and even though he's hurt now Kev's been extremely durable.
