No. 5 Gonzaga holds off San Francisco

When it was all said and done and No. 5 Gonzaga came out with the victory, the Bulldogs were happy to have survived a tough test after so many laughers in a row.

Brandon Clarke scored 24 points and Gonzaga got a tiebreaking 3-pointer from Zach Norvell Jr. with less than three minutes remaining as part of a game-ending 17-2 run that led to a 96-83 victory over San Francisco on Saturday night.

Norvell leads No. 5 Gonzaga over Loyola Marymount 73-55

Known for its offense, Gonzaga has shown that it can win by playing strong defense lately.

Zach Norvell Jr. scored 17 points and the No. 5 Bulldogs beat Loyola Marymount 73-55 on Thursday night, the eighth consecutive win for the Bulldogs since a pair of losses knocked them out of the top spot in The AP Top 25.

No. 5 Gonzaga wins 9th straight, beating Portland 89-66

Rui Hachimura said it felt like Gonzaga was a bit hurried in the first half against struggling Portland before settling down for a more typical Bulldog win.

"Before the second half, we talked about passing more and using our teammates. I think the second half we did pretty well with ball movement," the 6-foot-8 sophomore said.

Hachimura had 17 points and nine rebounds and No. 5 Gonzaga extended its winning streak to nine games with an 89-66 victory over Portland on Saturday night.

No. 4 Gonzaga cruises past Santa Clara 98-39

With about 4 1/2 minutes left in the first half, a section of Santa Clara fans started counting down the shot clock's final seconds well ahead of time in an attempt to rattle Gonzaga's Rui Hachimura.

Like most everything the Broncos tried against the No. 4 Bulldogs, it didn't work at all.

Hachimura dribbled into the lane, did a 180-degree spin and flipped the ball over his shoulder with his back to the basket for an impressive layup that quieted the raucous Leavey Center crowd. Hachimura finished with 16 points, Josh Perkins had 18 points and eight assists, and every Gonzaga starter scored in double figures as Gonzaga rolled past Santa Clara 98-39 on Thursday night.

Hachimura leads No. 4 Gonzaga over San Diego 85-69

San Diego always seems to play Gonzaga tough, making the Bulldogs work for yet another victory.

Rui Hachimura scored 32 points and No. 4 Gonzaga pulled away to beat San Diego 85-69 on Saturday night to go undefeated through the first half of the conference season.

Clarke leads No. 4 Gonzaga over Saint Mary's 94-46

Saint Mary's has been No. 4 Gonzaga's toughest nemesis in the West Coast Conference in the past decade. The Gaels didn't pose much of a challenge Saturday night.

Brandon Clarke scored 24 points and blocked three shots as Gonzaga routed Saint Mary's 94-46 for its 14th consecutive victory.

No. 3 Gonzaga uses late run to defeat Loyola Marymount

Third-ranked Gonzaga was trailing midway through the second half and the nation's highest-scoring team was being slowed.

The Bulldogs came up with a late burst to extend their winning streak to 15 games.

Gonzaga closed the game with a 20-6 run to beat Loyola Marymount 73-60 on Thursday night. It was only the second West Coast Conference game that the Bulldogs (24-2, 11-0) have not led by at least 20 at some point.

Hachimura, Gonzaga use strong 2nd half to beat USD 79-67

For the first 20 minutes Saturday night, Rui Hachimuraand the Gonzaga Bulldogs looked pretty average.

Once they got warmed up, there was no doubt they're one of the nation's best teams.

Hachimura scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half and had 10 rebounds and No. 3 Gonzaga tightened its defense and pulled away in the second half to beat San Diego 79-67 for its 16th straight victory.

Hachimura leads No. 2 Gonzaga over Pepperdine 92-64

On a night when Josh Perkins became the career assist leader at No. 2 Gonzaga, the Bulldogs clinched a seventh consecutive West Coast Conference regular season title and kept the door open to a possible No. 1 ranking next week.

Rui Hachimura scored 23 points, leading four Zags in double figures as the Bulldogs beat Pepperdine 92-64 on Thursday night.

Clarke, Hachimura lead No. 1 Gonzaga past Pacific 86-66

A renewed focus on defense helped Gonzaga get back to the No. 1 ranking it held for three weeks earlier this season.

Brandon Clarke, one of the anchors of that defense, is determined to keep the Bulldogs there this time.

Clarke had 21 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks, and Gonzaga extended the nation's longest winning streak to 19 games, thumping Pacific 86-66 on Thursday night.

No. 1 Gonzaga blows out Pepperdine 100-74 in WCC semifinals

Zach Norvell Jr. doesn't believe there is a team in the country that can compete with No. 1 Gonzaga when it plays its best game.

The Bulldogs made a strong case to back the junior guard's boasts Monday night.

Norvell scored 18 points and top-ranked Gonzaga beat Pepperdine 100-74 in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament.

Saint Mary's stuns No. 1 Gonzaga for WCC title

Saint Mary's had heard for weeks about the NCAA tournament bubble. First four in, first four out, fortunate to be in the discussion to be included in the field of 68.

Tired of all the chatter, the Gaels put an emphatic end to it, popping the bubble by taking down a team no one outside their program thought they could beat.

Saint Mary's ended the nation's longest winning streak and Gonzaga's six-year reign as West Coast Conference tournament champions, grinding out a 60-47 victory in the title game on Tuesday night.

No drama: No. 1 Zags roll past Fairleigh Dickinson in NCAAs

When it comes to a 16 seed beating a 1, it's still true -- anything really can happen in the NCAA Tournament.

Just not on Thursday night. And not against Gonzaga.

One year after dreamers and underdog lovers rejoiced at top-seeded Virginia's first-of-its-kind, first-round loss, the Gonzaga Bulldogscrushed any thought of a repeat with a wire-to-wire 87-49 thumping of Fairleigh Dickinson in the West Region.

Hachimura leads top-seeded Gonzaga to West regional final

Gonzaga was not going to be bullied by Florida State again with a spot in the Elite Eight on the line.

Kispert leads No. 8 Gonzaga over Alabama State 95-64

Corey Kispert is the only returning starter for No. 8 Gonzaga from last year's Elite Eight team, and he knows many of his young teammates are looking for leadership.

    He provided it Tuesday.

Kispert scored a career-high 28 points as Gonzaga used a second-half surge to beat Alabama State 95-64 in the season opener for both teams.
