Williams scores 20, No. 3 Tennessee holds off Florida 78-67

Grant Williams did just about anything he wanted to against Florida.

He even called for -- and delivered -- one of his more precise passes of the season in crunch time.

Williams scored 20 points and found Admiral Schofield for a clinching 3-pointer in the corner with 41.3 seconds remaining to help No. 3 Tennessee beat Florida 78-67 on Saturday for the team's 10th consecutive victory.

Hinson leads Ole Miss over No. 14 Mississippi St 81-77

Blake Hinson strolled onto his rival's home court, hit a few huge 3-pointers, scored a career-high 26 points and looked like he had the time of his life doing it.

If the Mississippi freshman had any nerves in a big Southeastern Conference road game, he sure didn't show it.

Hinson poured in basket after basket, Breein Tyree added 19 points and Ole Miss rallied for an 81-77 win over No. 14 Mississippi State on Saturday. With a wide grin and relaxed demeanor, Hinson acted like the breakout performance was something he does every day.

Harper, No. 11 Auburn rebound with 93-78 win over Georgia

Jared Harper's quick 3-pointer to start the game signaled this would be a more typical performance for both Auburn and its star point guard than the last one.

Harper had 22 points and seven assists and he and the 11th-ranked Tigers rebounded from a rough night to beat Georgia 93-78 on Saturday.

No. 18 Kentucky fights back again to top Vanderbilt 56-47

Kentucky believes it will figure out how to start games with the focus and resolve it has shown in closing them.

Now would be fine by coach John Calipari after again watching his No. 18 Wildcats having to scrap past Vanderbilt.

Ashton Hagans and Keldon Johnson each scored 15 points and combined to rally Kentucky from another slow start in a 56-47 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday night.

No. 3 Tennessee rips Arkansas 106-87 for 11th straight win

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes doesn't like referring to Lamonte' Turner and Jordan Bowden as reserves.

As far as he's concerned, those two guards are starters who happen to come off the bench.

Turner and Bowden combined to score 40 points, and the third-ranked Volunteers whipped Arkansas 106-87 on Tuesday night for their 11th consecutive victory.

Hagans silences Georgia crowd, lifts No. 12 Kentucky, 69-49

Ashton Hagans knew he was going to get booed returning to his home state.

It sure didn't seem to bother him.

With the crowd jeering each time he touched the ball, Hagans scored 23 points in a brilliant all-around performance that led No. 12 Kentucky to a 69-49 rout of Georgia on Tuesday night.

LSU cruises past No. 18 Ole Miss 83-69; 3-0 in SEC

Ole Miss freshman Blake Hinson went hard to the rim, rising up into the air to try and send home a huge one-handed dunk. The only problem was LSU's Kavell Bigby-Williams was right there to meet him, delivering a crushing two-handed block that crammed the ball back toward the floor.

The Rebels hadn't lost in nearly two months. That was about to change in a hurry.

Tremont Waters scored 20 points, Bigby-Williams had 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks, and LSU beat No. 18 Mississippi 83-69 on Tuesday night.

Brown's scoring spurt leads No. 14 Auburn past Texas A&M

Auburn guard Bryce Brown said he fired up a couple of long-range shots Wednesday night that likely had his coaches "shaking their heads."

"But when I make it, they don't tend to be mad about it," Brown said with a smile.

He made plenty against Texas A&M and scored all but two of his 22 points in the first half as No. 14 Auburn cruised to an 85-66 victory.

No. 3 Vols rally past Alabama, make case to lead AP Top 2

Tennessee did its part with a walk-off win of sorts against Alabama.

Enough for a No. 1 ranking? All the Volunteers can do now is sit and wait.

Grant Williams scored 21 points, Alabama was called for traveling with 3.2 seconds left and No. 3 Tennessee rallied past the Crimson Tide 71-68 on Saturday for its 12th straight victory and a chance to climb atop the AP Top 25 .

No. 24 Mississippi State routs struggling Vanderbilt 71-55

Memorial Gym is not a pleasant place for most opponents to visit, something the Mississippi State Bulldogs know only too well.

That makes leaving with only the program's 10th victory in 57 games at the Southeastern Conference's oldest gym very special.

Quinndary Weatherspoon scored 17 points and No. 24 Mississippi State never trailed in routing struggling Vanderbilt 71-55 on Saturday night.

No. 18 Mississippi rolls to 84-67 win over Arkansas

D.C. Davis played a grand total of 16 minutes last season, yet there he was on Saturday, leading a fast break opportunity during a crucial portion of the second half in a key conference game.

The former walk-on spied Terence Davis streaking toward the rim and let a high pass fly. It was perfectly placed and Davis grabbed it in midair, slammed it home and the 18th-ranked Rebels were well on their way to an 84-67 victory over Arkansas at The Pavilion.

No. 8 Kentucky closes out No. 22 Mississippi State 76-55

Kentucky's defense wasn't perfect against Mississippi State, just quick enough to disrupt the No. 22 Bulldogs' rhythm and cause its worst offensive performance this season.

The No. 8 Wildcats now aim to keep it going after clearing the second of three big challenges.

PJ Washington scored 21 points, including a big 3-pointer down the stretch, Tyler Herro added 18 and Kentucky pulled away from Mississippi State 76-55 on Tuesday night for its fifth consecutive victory.

Petty, Hall lead Alabama past No. 20 Ole Miss 74-53

Alabama has a reputation of losing large first-half leads. Against No. 20 Mississippi, Alabama's lead didn't just hold up, it grew.

The Crimson Tide built a 16-point lead by halftime and extended that advantage to 28 points on the way to a 74-53 blowout win over Ole Miss.

Silva's 32 lead Gamecocks to 80-77 win over No. 16 Auburn

One of Frank Martin's best coaching moments this season for South Carolina came away from the games or the practice court. He counseled his senior leader Chris Silva to forget about the team's early problems and savor every minute he had left to play.

Silva has taken that advice and powered the Gamecocks' surprising run through the Southeastern Conference.

Silva was nearly unstoppable, with career highs of 32 points and 14 rebounds, to lead South Carolina to an 80-77 victory over No. 16 Auburn on Tuesday night. He made 11 of 12 shots, 10 of 11 foul shots and had four of his team's eight blocks. Silva's relentless play underneath was also a factor in two of Auburn's post players fouling out.

Top-ranked Tennessee rallies, beats Vanderbilt 88-83 in OT

Grant Williams had the game of his life and the best free throw shooting performance by a college player in six decades.

Tennessee needed every last point in its first outing this season as the nation's top-ranked team.

Williams scored a career-high 43 and made all 23 free throws as the Volunteers avoided a repeat of their last trip to Memorial Gym when also freshly minted No. 1, holding off Vanderbilt 88-83 in overtime Wednesday night.

Waters leads No. 25 LSU past Georgia 92-82 for 8th straight

A little more than a month ago, LSU point guard Tremont Waters went to the bench for two games.

Since returning to the starting lineup in the Tigers' final non-conference game, Waters has been a different player. He delivered his best game of the season Wednesday night as No. 25 LSU beat Georgia 92-82 to remain unbeaten in Southeastern Conference play.

Lamonte' Turner made the most of a rare start for Tennessee.

Turner scored 23 points and the top-ranked Volunteers held West Virginia scoreless for a 9 1/2-minute stretch Saturday on its way to an 83-66 victory.
