K-State's defense stifles No. 14 Texas Tech in 58-45 win

Kansas State and Texas Tech have two of the four highest-rated defenses in the country. They didn't disappoint Tuesday night.

In a preview of the tough test that awaits Big 12 opponents, the Wildcats ground down the 14th-ranked Red Raiders 58-45 on Tuesday night. Kansas State held Tech to a season low in points and hasn't allowed a team to score more than 71 this season.

Iowa State's hot shooting leads to 87-73 win over Ole Miss

Iowa State whipped the basketball around and through Mississippi's zone with precision and purpose, finding open players on nearly every possession during the second half.

By the time the Rebels figured out where the ball was, one of the Cyclones was usually slamming it through the hoop or making another open jumper.

The result was No. 24 Iowa State's impressive 87-73 victory over No. 20 Ole Miss in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday. Freshman Talen Horton-Tucker scored 23 points and sophomore Lindell Wiggintonadded 18.

No. 16 Texas Tech ends 3-game Big 12 slide 84-65 over TCU

Jarrett Culver had an emphatic dunk to punctuate a much-needed big Monday performance for No. 16 Texas Tech.

Culver had 12 of his 18 points after halftime, including the thundering slam on a lob pass from Davide Moretti for a 20-point lead late as the Red Raiders snapped a three-game Big 12 losing streak with an 84-65 win over TCU.

No. 20 Iowa State rolls past West Virginia 93-68

Iowa State's Lindell Wigginton leapt into the lane to steal a pass, sprinted down the court and got fouled. He then casually flipped the ball underhanded toward the basket from 30 feet -- and found the bottom of the net.

It was that kind of night for Wigginton, who has transitioned from a starter on a losing team to a lethal weapon off the bench for a winning one.

Wigginton scored a season-high 28 points and 20th-ranked Iowa State cruised past West Virginia 93-68 on Wednesday night, its fourth win in five games.

Lawson leads No. 11 Kansas past No. 16 Texas Tech, 79-63

Kansas coach Bill Self had been waiting most of this season for a moment to galvanize his team.

He may have gotten it during practice on Friday.

First, the Jayhawks lost starting guard Marcus Garrett to a sprained ankle, robbing them of their defensive stopper. Then, they learned that sophomore forward Silvio De Sousa would be ineligible for this season and next after the NCAA determined his guardian had accepted impermissible benefits.

With everything going against them, the No. 11 Jayhawks responded Saturday by throwing haymakers from the opening bell in their showdown with No. 16 Texas Tech. Dedric Lawson piled up 25 points and 10 rebounds, Devon Dotson added 20 points and Kansas cruised to a 79-63 victory over the Red Raiders.

No. 18 Texas Tech routs cold-shooting West Virginia 81-50

Texas Tech kept making plays and scoring points while West Virginia went more than 15 minutes without a field goal in the first half.

The No. 18 Red Raiders were well on their way to another big Monday win, this time 81-50 to match their most lopsided Big 12 victory in school history, and only two days after a 16-point loss at No. 13 Kansas.

Brown, Sneed help Kansas State beat No. 13 Kansas, 74-67

Kamau Stokes trailed Cartier Diarra all the way to the basket, the senior guard watching right along with every Kansas State fan that squeezed into Bramlage Coliseum to see its showdown with Kansas.

He knew the springy sophomore guard would do something special.

With nobody else around him, Diarra elevated for an NBA-style windmill dunk, putting a highlight exclamation point on a 74-67 victory over the No. 13 Jayhawks on Tuesday night -- one that snapped an eight-game skid against Kansas and consolidated the Wildcats' lead atop the Big 12.

Lawson, Agbaji lift No. 13 Kansas past Oklahoma State, 84-72

Kansas got the lift it needed against Oklahoma State on Saturday from a pair of guys that would have been just about the longest of long shots to provide it just a couple of months ago.

Ochai Agbaji was still redshirting back then. Mitch Lightfoot was buried deep on the bench.

Yet it was Agbaji who was pouring in five 3-pointers and 23 points against the Cowboys, and it was Lightfoot playing above the rim at both ends of the floor. And along with Dedric Lawson, who had a game-high 25 points, the No. 13 Jayhawks shrugged off a slow start for an 84-72 victory.

TCU rides big first-half run to upset at No. 17 Iowa State

Just when the Big 12 title chase was threatening to make some sense, TCU traveled to Ames and pulled off one of the weirdest upsets of the season.

Kendric Davis scored a season-high 22 points, and the Horned Frogs stunned No. 17 Iowa State 92-83 on Saturday for their first road win over a Top 25 team in 21 years.

Dotson scores 25 as No. 14 Kansas wins 82-77 in OT at TCU

Even when Kansas won games earlier this season against three Top 25 teams, the Jayhawks hadn't celebrated in the locker room like they did after an overtime victory at TCU.

They are a much different team now than when they beat Tennessee, Michigan State and Villanova. Coach Bill Self and the Jayhawks are now starting four freshmen.

Devon Dotson, one of those freshmen, scored a season-high 25 points with six free throws in the final 40 seconds of overtime and No. 14 Kansas won 82-77 on Monday night after blowing a 12-point lead in the second half.

Brown, Stokes, lead No. 18 Kansas State past Texas 71-64

Kansas State ranks among the best in college basketball on defense, so the Wildcats' are not generally cited for lack of toughness.

But that's what their coach, Bruce Weber, did after a 67-47 loss to Texas in the Big 12 opener on Jan. 2. Nevermind that two Kansas State starters, Dean Wade and Kamau Stokes, missed the game with injuries.

No. 15 Texas Tech breezes past short-handed Baylor 86-61

In the 18-game grind of the Big 12 schedule, Texas Tech couldn't avoid a rough stretch. What the Red Raiders have done since then has become the story of their season so far.

Jarrett Culver scored 18 points and Davide Moretti added 17 as No. 15 Texas Tech cruised past short-handed and turnover-prone Baylor 86-61 on Saturday, the Red Raiders' biggest margin of victory over the Bears since 2002.

Dotson, Lawson brothers lead No. 14 Kansas' rout of WVU

Devon Dotson drove through a crowd of West Virginia players, stopped in his tracks and passed the ball across the key, finding K.J. Lawson alone in the corner. Without hesitation, Lawson sunk his third 3-pointer of the game before running down the court celebrating with his brother, Dedric.

K.J. Lawson scored a season-high 15 points in 24 minutes, the first time he's played more than 20 minutes since transferring from Memphis, and No. 14 Kansas beat the Mountaineers 78-53 on Saturday.

    No. 23 Iowa St's 3-point barrage beats No. 18 K-State, 78-64

Iowa State was drilled at home by TCU a week ago, then had to sit around without another game until Saturday, left to brood over its uphill climb to get back into the Big 12 race.

The Cyclones finally released that pent-up angst against No. 18 Kansas State.

Lindell Wigginton hit five 3-pointers and scored 23 points, Talen Horton-Tucker buried six 3s and had 20, and the No. 23 Cyclones pulled away late for a 78-64 victory over the Big 12-leading Wildcats on Saturday to answer a chorus of critics that had been surfaced over the past seven days.
