Of course that's not what I'm saying. Someone like Mirotic would be a better fit, offensively, is what I'm saying. To reiterate, I'm not saying I would be upset about the pairing of Nurk and Davis, just that I am skeptical it would immediately make us a powerhouse like some seem to believe. I think we'd be dysfunctional on offense for a while at least. And our fans being what they are, with only a partial season of seeing that dysfunction, would likely call for us to blow it up in the offseason.

This is what would intrigue me, but we don't have good defensive guards. Although I guess trading for Davis would include us getting rid of CJ, and his replacement might help with that. Unless we end up just plugging another midget shooting guard in a point guard's body like Seth into that spot.

Wouldn't NO be a stronger team if they kept Holiday and took Zach from us? I don't see how adding a third team helps.

Then why isn't NO better when you add those two to Davis/Holiday?

Are you saying that Zach is better than Drummond? I don't get your question if not.

They get CJ and Drummond to build around and two 1st round picks (Detroit's will probably be a lottery pick) plus their own lottery pick. I think that's a pretty good return.

It's also to balance out the roster. Trading for CJ puts their two best players in the backcourt with Jrue and CJ without a real true center on the roster. Trading Jrue for a legit big man balances it out better.

My offer for Davis would be CJ, Turner, Zach, and two or three 1sts. New Orleans would be insane not to jump at that.

    We'd have starting:

    Dame
    Davis
    Nurk
    Layman/Moe
    Aminu

That's the closest thing to a contending team that we've had in almost 20 years.

CJ, Collins, Simons, and Two Future 1sts for Davis and Payton makes a ton of sense.

SAS got Derozen and Poeltl for Kawhi and Green
MIN got Covington and Saric for Butler and Patton

McCollum, Collins, Simons, and two picks is a very comparable deal, and might be even better.

Would allow NOP to remain competitive(ish) going forward, and Jrue Holiday is a perfect fit next to McCollum (A big PG who defends really well and can defend either guard position). Theyd also get (essentially) four 1st round picks for the future (Collins, Simons, two picks).

    Our lineup would be this:
    Lillard (36) / Payton (12)
    Curry (28) / Payton (12) / Layman (8)
    Harkless (30) / Layman (18) /
    Davis (18) / Aminu (30)
    Nurkic (30) / Davis (18)

Hopefully Wes Matthews gets bought out, and we could bring him back as our starting SG.

There's doubt in my mind. If the lakers don't get him in a trade this season, are you telling me that they won't sign a big name FA this summer so that they can save cap room for the summer of 2020 to get AD? That they won't go after Kawhi or Durant to pair with LeBron?

Davis might just end up a laker, but there's doubt in my mind.

Hell, we could take back Hill's bad contract and add another 1st. I'd have to think that offer could compete.

CBSSports has 5 potential trades for AD and Portland is one of them and it would be freaking glorious:

That would be nice, but New Orleans seems to be emphatic about doing what's best for them and and no one else. Which I would do in their case as well.
Besides with their weird history they don't seem to have any hated rivalries like other teams have.

I'd probably rank the Portland offer as #2 out of the 5.

The #1 offer is Porzingis, Hardaway, and their 2019 1st. Of course that probably depends on the health of Porzingis and I'm not convinced the Knicks would trade him. That pick is currently 2nd too.

#3 is probably the Lakers one of Ball, Ingram, KCP, and a 2020 1st (not sure why this year's pick isn't included instead). I think we can beat this but mostly because I'm not a fan of Ingram and their pick next year might be 29 or 30 if they had AD, LeBron, and another star free agent.

#4 is the Rockets offer of Capela, Gordon, and a 2019 1st. I don't think Capela would be as good on the Pelicans. Gordon is really aging fast and their pick isn't great either.

#5 is the Wizards with Wall, Morris. and 2019 1st. Wall might have the worst contract in the NBA now. Their 1st would be okay but I don't think this is even in the ballpark.

I feel a little better about our chances after reading this crap.

Edit: We're the only ones that had to take on Hill. I'd gladly do that to make this work.
