In 11 games vs POR, he has averaged: 14 pts, 3 rebs, 2.5 asts on 41% FG, 27% from 3 in 25 mpg. That's about a decent bench player. Shooting is terrible.
From a pieces out to pieces in standpoint this trade is very solid for Portland. It does have a feeling of a precursor trade based on 2 factors. #1 Rotation. Rodney is a career starter who probably is a 6th man on good teams. Portland didnt trade for him to anchor the bench so he is going to be a rotational player... As a sg/sf he is going to be sharing time with CJ/Moe/ET/Jake. Someone is going to lose minutes and it isnt CJ or Evan. #2 Timing. The deadline was still 4 days away at the time the deal happened. It feels like a bolstering before consolidation, and from timing it gives the Blazers time to construct another trade without potentially having to scramble to fill in blanks. It also opened a roster slot which can come in handy.
CJ has just become a lot more tradeable too, although I don't really see who we would trade him for - Blake?
Stotts is on radio https://www.iheart.com/live/rip-cit...tained-in-london-prior-to-international-game/
Stotts says Hood will be worked into the rotation ASAP, but wouldn't comment on whose minutes would be reduced, just that "those minutes will come from somebody".
Paraphrasing..... "Gives us insurance for Moe with his injuries and being in and out of lineup" "We'll work him in right away. Not sure if he plays tmrw, but will get in as soon as he can" Layman sits? "You do the math. Those minutes will come from somebody. We traded two guys who don't play for a guy who will." ugh "I thought Jake earned his minutes. They came at the expense of Nik."
I hope that is the case. If it ends up just being Rodney Hood who ends up taking minutes from Jake, I will not be impressed with this in the least. It is that kind of brilliance you just don't find everyday....
im all for Hood playing immediately, given we only have 30 games w/ him. Just better not be at the expense of Jake.
You're missing a needle-moving trade that required any skill, that you or I couldn't have made. Trading 2 2nd-round picks for one isn't a real trade. I'm sure I could find discrepancies in your unnamed site, whatever it is. The point is, you should add this site to your repertoire of information so you can compare when you need to. Do you read only one source for your non-sports news?
Stotts was also seen laughing maniacally, like Christopher Lee's Dracula and shouting "Turtle Soup! Turtle Soup! Tonight I dine on Turtle Soup!" Nobody on the Blazer's staff knew what he was referring too.
In other words - Jake. Hark and Aminu are like 2 broken crutches that Stotts clings to with the tenacity of a limpet on bath salts - and with about as much rational thought. My first reaction to the deal was that it was a minor positive. The more I think about it, the more I suspect Olshey just handed Stotts another excuse to drive the bus into a ditch while giving himself an excuse to take the rest of the season off.
Jake is too good to get DNPs still. I wonder if he and/or Harkless can get minutes at PF. That would push Meyers/Zach out of rotation. Let's see if Neil can do anything else to clear out this clutter. I also wonder how hurt Moe really is.
Someone else mentioned the idea of starting Layman and having Moe play the four with the second unit. Meyers takes a seat in that scenario. I’m all for it.
Low risk? Sure. But when I see people state he could replace CJ, I'm wondering if theyve seen Hood play. He's a horrible player.
Hope not, unless they plan to move CJ to the second unit. Hood is a very poor playmaker, something Turner really adds to a team in need.
Something to be said, but you see some players are so salty when they're traded. Even scrubs, but seems different here. Here are two dudes that didn't get any PT, but still seem to appreciate their time here.
